I envy you. Such a beautiful piece and an extremely well executed design.

The size would prevent me from ever wearing it, though. Lest I want to hear "Flava-Flav" jokes.

My wrists are mostly suited for 36-42mm.

This has to top any incoming thread ever posted on TRF! An incoming so grand members have to wait 8 months just to catch a glimpse! I will definitely keep my eye on this thread! Congrats in advance Ducati this will make the ultimate Christmas gift to yourself!

It was an excellent cast, wasn't it ? I realized that after I saw mods and admins chiming in, and that really wasn't my intention - honest. Fact is, I only have a small deposit on it to secure it if it actually materializes, which is by no means a certainty with Zenith in the US, at least.

Also, if I do get it, it will be worn ceremonially if at all. It's clearly too large for any normal person to wear daily, and it also may have a long-term value that would necessitate keeping it pristine.

But damn does it look sweet !

I just hope I don't need to sell my first-born. Come to think of it, what's the going rate for a 14 y/o who needs new contacts ? I'll throw in the X-box absolutely free ! (just pay separate handling)
Does the 14 y/o come with boxes and papers?

congratulations

this is imo THE best offering from Basel and SIHH 2012

You know, a famous collector called 'Arnold Schwarznegger' bought 2 of these. 1 in Titanium and 1 in gold.

Panerai has the 203 with vintage Angulus, the Montre D'aéronef is the same kind of watch for Zenith !

a magnificent important piece of history.

One little correction ... it is not 250 in total but 250 in titanium and 75 in gold

Zenith Pilot watches have a very rich history ... forget about IWC

Yes, my AD got it slightly wrong. I too have since heard that there were 250 Titaniums and 75 RG's. However, they will have to renumber the plates for the RG from what the prototype was showing.

Funny thing is, they were able to find a Titanium for Arnold at Basel, despite assuring the dealers that they had ALL been presold at SIHH a month earlier.

that's the frustrating thing about being 'not important enough'

Yes, they seem to be sold out , but what do you happens think if a famous collector like Schwarznegger wants one too.
You can be sure somewhere in the US a customer will get bad news from his AD .... 'sorry, we were prommised one but somehow we're not getting it'

Exactly, my friend. So Ah-nuld shows his new watches to Stallone, who decides he wants a RG, and there goes the one I reserved.

I thought the big one might be a little too ostentatious.

I found that if I keep it wound to close to full power reserve, it loses maybe 1 second/week. You would think that with that big knob, it would be easy to wind, but in fact there is a good deal of back pressure from the spring. This movement is built like a tank.
