Stopped by a Local AD: Price

I just got back from Tourneau in King of Prussia mall from one of my local AD's. I tried on a DateJust 2 with fluted bezel in blue and a black explorer 2. Had a nice conversation about Rolex watches with the salesman who was very knowledgeable. When we talked about price he gave me the "Rolex sets the prices. We can't discount them". I said thanks but this is why I do not purchase watches at your store. Even on some of the popular models I can get at least $500 off i.e. new sub. I think they are paying so much rent in the mall they can't afford to discount. My next Rolex I will by from a TD like DavidSW. Good price good service.

I hear you. T just has enough people walking in the door and buying where they dont have to discount. Supply and demand in that particular market sets the price.

If they pay much rent, then I'm sure they would try and sell.

Turdneau is quite legendary for not discounting, not to mention the 13K used Daytonas...

Yep...They don't discount Rolex or Panerai

Other brands they might give you a few percent off.

I live a few min from that Mall/ AD
Half of the staff really knows their stuff a couple others not so much.

Last year when I was interested in a Panerai, I asked if they could do anything, I got that same response. We can't.... or they won't let us with Panerai or Rolex.
The watch I was interested in was the PAM 321 (retail $10,100)

I asked him if I walked in with 10K cash and plopped it on the counter, if they would let me walk out empty handed....he said unfortunately Yes.

I really wasn't going to pay that close to retail and was only testing the waters....to me that is crazy that they can't even discount $100 off a 10k watch. I was straight with him, as he was a very good salesperson and very knowledgeable...I am sorry but I can get this for about 2 k less from trusted seller here or grey. He said he understood

I had another AD play that game with me. They asked for my email before I left and about 3 days later, 3 out of 4 watches that my wife and I tried on were magically on sale...

That has been my experience with Rolex ADs as well. If they are in a high rent locations (one in Vegas and one in SoCal), they would not budge from MSRP. I went to a not so popular location AD and they had no problems lowering their price.
