Comfort of a submariner

I stopped in to the Rolex store on 5th ave in NYC - just to try on the 116613LB. I was set on placing an order with one of our sellers on TRF.

After reading the reviews and researching to model, I thought it would be a very good all around daily watch.

Much to my surprise, I really did not find it comfortable at all.

I found that since the crown protrudes out from the case, if the watch would sit at a normal spot on my wrist, it would bite into the top portion of my hand.

I played with the glide lock mechanism but the only way was to wear it higher on my wrist - something that I don't do and feels/looks off on my wrist.

Just wanted to ask if anyone else has had the same impression.

I was ready to tell my bank to wire the funds - glad I went to try it on - but was completely shocking that it wasn't as comfortable as I thought it would be.

I found it to be super comfortable. The clasp is magic.

But the case I found to be too bulky.

No complaints here as I find it very comfortable. I wear the "older" classic sub so I have the classic band. It is my understanding that those with the newer band find it even more comfortable to wear.

No problems with comfort on my wrist. Feels very nice in fact.

Good thing you tried one on first.

I had a similar experience (maybe because I have super small wrists), so I got a YM instead. I found that the thinner case sits nicely right where it should.

I haven't had any issues with any SubCs. You may find that the GMTIIc is more comfortable as it sits flatter on the wrist.

Very comfortable and pretty light, the crown is quite small compared to Breitlings and APs.

No issues with the Sub C....my only complain would be that the clasp is a bit longer than my Daytona...but that's due to the glide lock mechanism. But I love the feel of the Sub C...very comfortable.

My old sub did the same thing. I wear my watches a little loose, and it rubbed a callous into the top of my hand. After that it was all good!

My new ym doesn't rub much at all.

It's the most comfortable "dive watch" I have owned and i own a few. It is a dive watch that has morphed into a watch pressed for every day use at white collar jobs..... Perhaps a Datejust would be more comfortable?

I find mine super comfortable, but nothing beats the comfort of a DJ on a jubilee bracelet with the hidden clasp.

Sub is very comfortable and like what other people said. The GMT is more comfortable due to the smaller case back.

I had the same experience. The Sub c was very unconfortable on my wrist and I ended up selling mine. Never had a problem with the GMT 2c.

I don't have a Sub C (mine's an older one) but I find it quite comfortable. Do note that I'm left handed so I can't comment on the crown sticking out too far and being uncomfortable near my hand, since I wear it on my right wrist.

I'm in now way saying anything negative about the watch - I was about to buy one today.

Just surprised how it dug into my hand as everyone said it is 'so comfortable'. Odd.

I liked the Sub since the dial was simple - I really would have no need for the GMT feature.

Well... onto the next one.

16610

My first watch is the 16610 and I think it is extremely comfortable. I only tried on a couple of 116610 and try we're "uncomfortable" per say... Just different. I have heard people say that as you wear the new you get used to it
