I Talked to JJ!
That's right. JJ and I talked, person to person, via skype. Way on the other side of the world and it was if we were sitting next to each other. Very cool.

Please don't go there You'll regret it the rest of your long life He'll start by PM-ing you about Skype. If you finally cave in and talk to him you are lost. You're doomed I tell you, doomed

Naw, but I do say y'all. I'm from up north [about 10 miles] in Ohio. Been a hillbilly for 17 years.

I guess I do. I was born here and lived here for 40 years and in San Antonio, Texas for 4 years. Among other Oklahomans, my accent isn't very strong. I say ya'll and stuff like that, but I don't really say "dang" except here on the forums, just to be silly. I used to do voice work for a little extra pocket change, so got pretty good at disguising my accent.

Audible 'chat' has been around for quite a while. IM programs from AOL, Yahoo and others have offered this feature for years. I've chatted it up all around the world, all for just the cost of my ISP service. Yes, the phone company should have a problem with it, and has... The down sides are it works like a walkie talkie, only one person talking at a time. The other is you can't really 'call' someone. You look to see if they're online and then contact them via text. Once you agree, both go to the mic and off you go. I haven't v-chatted in years so some of this info may be old. That's how it used to work anyways.

Pat's it's come quite a ways since you've chatted. You now can chat at the same time and I have a wirless/wifi phone that rings as well it's great! If both parties have skype it's free, If you are contacting a non skype party then you just buy "skype credits" CHEAP VERY CHEAP/ under 30.00 US dollars for a year! All calls in US, Canada are included and you can also call a land line as well. I use it almost daily to call relatives in Canadathat have a land line only! Pretty sweet. Steve |

Thanks for the info ezmoney... Like I said above, I haven't IM'ed or chatted in quite some time. I used to use AOL chat and Yahoo Messenger and talk with folks from all over the place. It was fun and free... As with everything, sounds like it's more sophisticated now. I thought skype.com was just a place to post morbid videos...??? Apparently not...

Skype is a VOIP supplier, like Vonage. I've really enjoyed it especially for the cost or should I say lack of....

Dan, I'm truly sorry you didn't ask anyone before you entered this treacherous territory of "JJ Skypeland". Those of us who made this mistake long before you could have warned you away and saved you a lot of future grief.
You will now find yourself being awakened at 3 AM EST to talk sheep. But worse than talking by Skype - after all, you can always shut down and later claim power failure - is actually meeting this Bald Kiwi Loon in person. There's no way to get away from him then. You have to sit there and listen to sheep talk for hours on end with no relief.

Oh dear, another victim. Never mind - it's about time we formed a support group.
I've spoken to JJ quite a few times, even before this forum took off. JJ's as much of a gent on the phone as he is on the forum.
