3 laptops, 2 Rolex, 1 fake Tommy Bahama and a bottle of faux Black

Here's my Christmas in one bag.

I'll begin with the laptops. My old Compaq P4 threw some bad sectors on the hard drive, so I retired it and bought a lightly used Dell XPS M1330 off the C-list. I also loaned myself a semi-broken Sony Vaio from work. I quickly bought a new drive for the Compaq, and now it works wonderfully with a fresh XP build. I threw a G card in it and it's my wife's workhorse again. For some reason SPSS runs better on the 4 year old Pentium 4m than on a newish Centrino in the Vaio. Oh, and I swapped out my Dell D630 for a newer D630. The odd man out is the XPS. I prefer the 2 battey config of the D630 and the Compaq. So the Vaio will go back to the office and the XPS might turn into a Rolex upgrade.

Some of you might recall that my 2 October Rolex purchases were actually Chrismabirthdanniversafathermothersdayhanakwanzaka presents between my wife and me. She loves hers, I am starting to think GMT/black or SD. It's a sickness.

An airline friend presented me with a nice Tommy Bahama shirt, informing me very quickly that it was a souvenir from his China route. Clearly a fake. I graciously accepted, but then earmarked it as a donation for the Lutheran Mission.

My wife discovered a chemist who makes smell-a-like perfumes and colognes. Apparently it is completely legal since you cannot copyright a smell. Before I could stop her, she had loaded up on $250 worth of the stuff. She gave me some "Polo Black", but I don't think any of the fake stuff smells quite right. I have continued to wear my genuine Polo Blue, but I squirt a little bit of the black down the sink every morning.

Oh, and my extended family is freakin' cracked.

Happy Holidays.
