Peter..Peter..Peter..Your 45th B-day is a milestone 5 years
from 1/2 a century. You deserve it. If you can afford it and pay all the bills, a little in savings. I say WHY NOT!?

Besides your wife,girlfriend,kids,inlaws,siblings,parents will
only spend it after you are gone!

Best of luck

Cheers

Kevin

Peter, just get the watch & enjoy it, think of the other stuff we waste money on, cars, tobacco, wine, woman & song. The 16613 will be with you for the rest of your life and you'll love it more everyday, jeez it'd be stupid not to get it.

Hope that helped, but just in case here you go

If you can easily afford it, then go for it. Just do it. You only live once.

Peter, come on. What would you spend the money on? Food, shelter, transporation? Pshaw, man. Let's get your priorities straight. What could be more important than your Holy Grail?

Go for it - and don't look back.

I got mine for my 40th. Never a second of regret. If you can't afford it now or "could put the $$ to use in other ways"...have one less Starbucks or other small purchase each day. After 6 mos, you should have a nice nest egg set aside. I also have a change bucket in my bedroom. After 6 mos. of dropping change in every night...I had over $500. Not enough for a milestone/grail Blue TT Sub but it's a start. Good luck. BTW- If you wear it every day until you are 75, it will cost next to nothing!!!

Go for it..

The longer you wait, the less time you have to enjoy it...and if you wait too long, you will never take the plunge..

What's this guilt crap.... A good WIS can justify anything watch related..

It's a lot of money, but it's a lot of years too. I feel like I am 25 and only my brain is 45!

Welcome to TRF, Peter.

While many on this forum would not consider Bluesy to be the Holy Grail (that spot seems to be going toward the new Milgauss GV from the look of things), you won't regret it.

I've had mine for just over a year now and never get tired of it. Even with stiff competition from the new Pt. YM, Bluesy still rules.

The Blue/Gold combo never fails to come through with flying colours.

JJ

Just brought home my S/S GMT IIc. Wife did great for christmas and got me a Sub. I took it in to be sized and there was a new GMT. I had to have it and the AD took back my sub and I have now been wearing my GMT for two hours. I waited a long time for a Rolex and now that the money is spent I have no regrets, just maybe that I should have not been so worried about the money earlier in life. Just have less time to enjoy it now.

Guilt? GUILT?!?

Why Peter, sure it's possible to put the money to use in other ways. You could buy a nice pre-paid cemetery plot. Or buy really expensive lunches for a year - that will inevitably wind up in the porcelain throne. Or, you could buy some lottery tickets - you know, they say you can't win if you don't play...

Or... a lifetime, satisfying investment like this:

Totally up to you, Peter!

Is this why they talk about the "gilt" dial on older watches?

Get one now and regret it for the next 45 years.
How bad would you feel if in 45 years you did not get one?

Are you married? If so, how much $$$ does your wife wear on her ring? How much money have you spent on cars that depreciated, got old and were sold back over the years? Dude, seriously, 45! You deserve a nice present. I am not 30 and I am thinking of getting a watch for my 27th b-day!

Good luck.

The women in my life can spend that much at Nordstrom in 2 hours. Get the watch. Like vman said, wives of a number of years are usually wearing a couple of carats....4 times what your Rollie will cost. Get it and love that blue....

That's right . the other day while was changing in my closet I looked at all her shoe boxes and the price tags and she never wears them that often . and when she does , she ends up walking barefooted because her feet hurt and not to mention her purses.. and look at me... my watches are the only expensive things that I don't feel bad about... will just pass them on

Buying a Rolex is a big decision. Regardless of your income level, dropping 5k+ on a watch does give one reason to pause. If you aren't causing financial hardship on your family with the purchase...

Get the watch

Never feel guilty about buying a Rolex watch, unless you buy the YM II.
