Doubt there'd be ceramic on the Sub. It is a true "tool watch" (or should always be considered one) and the idea of ceramic on something like that just seems somewhat taboo. Too much chance for breaking such a thing if the watch is used like its supposed to be, but hell, who knows. Look at the GMT ICE...

There are photoshops of imaginary new models on the net. It is almost impossible to say for sure what is coming out this April 08 in Basel.
However, if one goes by the past the revision of a model can take 3 years to complete, such that for 2008 for instance the Sub may be revised only in the solid 18K gold model, followed in 2009 with the two tone and then in 2010 with the stainless steel model. Basically the best one can say is time will tell |

One thing I have noticed, is the black ceramic dial on my GMTII has a very powerful shiny and wettness to it. It looks great but it would distracting underwater. So for a more purposful true diver like the sub, I would hope they would go with a matt black finish on that ceramic bezel. So there, you will have the best of both worlds!

It would break my heart if Rolex did the polished-center-link thing with the Submariner's bracelet.

I think that's the new Oyster bracelet. on the bright side, the bracelet feels very heavy and sturdy, and the clasp is very strong and solid. The thin pieces of steel folded into the clasp on older models has been replaced by heavier, sturdier pieces, and the links feel very solid and heavy.

Rolex has been advertising the advantages of the ceramic on the GMT over, specifically, aluminum bezel inserts, so it's a pretty safe bet that the aluminum is getting phased out of all the watches over the next few years. The only reason I can see the Sub not being upgraded is if the ceramic had some sort of problem at depths between 100 and 300 meters. |

However, the polished center link is such a turnoff to me that I'd actually rather have the inferior bracelet just because of the all brushed finish. |

If they made the Sub Date and SD with a ceramic bezel, wouldn't it look like a cloned new GMT II ? When I was at my AD last week, he said they have already sent 3 GMT IIc's back for cracked bezels. Has anyone else ever heard of this?

Stick with steel bezel for Sub. Tool watch. I don't want a piece of clay on my watch when I am banging it against a submarine siding. Give me the ping of metal. lol

I also doubt there is any problems with ceramic at depths. One only has to look at the trends. You had better buy a Sub this year if you don't want a ceramic bezel. I won't buy one until I can get it with a ceramic bezel. |
