is it possible - NIB 14060m with open papers?
(edited) I am curious, if in some corner of the world there is still a new 14060 that can be registered ?
It looks like as models retire, the AD's sell them to people and they have to put a name on the warranty before it goes out the door? Any suggestions on where to look or is this a waste of time? Thanks as always |

I've seen quite a few new 14060M's still sitting at ADs, I'd imagine its not too hard to find one.

road trip, map out as many AD's as you can find off route 66... take some time off of work, pull out the kids college fund for lodging, rent an RV, drop the mrs off at her moms and tell her "a mans got to do what a mans got to do".... also tell her yes you'll meet with the lawyers when you get back from your quest.
or phone book roll of dimes list of AD's good luck in the quest ps if all else fails, you can find one without your name on it for a nice discount in these pages somewhere.

because I am new and learning and still tying to keep everything straight ...is it also possible to find this in 2 liner or is that only older? Quote:

Yup I just saw a couple in the St. Thomas AD last weekend, AH RIISE I believe. Also St. Marteen had some too. Not much wiggle room on price but still got about 10 percent off.

Imo finding a BNIB two liner will be next to impossible.

I'm willing to bet that you'd be able to find one of the 4 liners, but more likley than not no two liner. Do what I did last summer, go to the Rolex website, get a list of AD's closest to you and start dialing, you'll know soon enough. I thought that I was more than likley one of the last person's to leave an AD with a BNIB 14060M several weeks ago because I had it on layaway for 7 months but if you don't mind taking a road trip I bet you'll still be able to find one. Good luck on your quest. I know you've been on the fence as far as date vs no date, sounds like you might have made your decision. Godspeed!

Thanks
Yeah, in the beginning I was all over the map...drilling down learning, figuring what I like.
I think all things considered, the simplicity of the no date and the "just right" ness of the case is what I like best. If I was into these in the 70's the red writing would be the one. I wonder about the size and bulkiness of the new version with date. My wrist isnt huge and maybe its just me, but my hunch is that for timelessness, the larger case may someday look dated? (no offense to the million who own one, if i was 27 Im sure id be all over the larger one) I do think that for my 50th, I should have one watch with my name on it...that will be my baby - i know i will pay more, etc. and maybe if I get into it, i will of course be buying here, i can already see how great everyone is, and the advantages of buying here...but maybe I save that for watches I want to move in and out of. so my last dilemma is really trying to find this older version whcih everyone seems to think is classic, or go for the newer one which has a nice updated bracelet and other points. thoughts? Finding a BNIB 14060m should'nt be too hard but discontinued models tend to sell for list price only from ADs. The 114060 could be discounted bringing the prices closer together.
Try them both on and see which one puts the biggest smile on your face, can't go wrong either way. Just my two cents worth. |

I've still got about a dozen Rolexes and at my age (older than you ) I've pretty much figured that I don't need to buy another watch that will outlast me..
However, the new ceramic 114060 is really starting to worm it's way into my mind as "one final, modern, watch in this lifetime".. We'll see how that goes..

Depends on how you feel, I suppose. I picked a 14060M over the 114060 because I didn't think the 114060 looked too balanced on my small wrists.. but that was really the only reason. I'd head to an AD, try them both on if you can, and see which one speaks to you more.

One thing, have you researched yet the replacement cost of a bezel insert between the two models? From what I've read to replace an aluminum insert maybe 100.00 or so, but a ceramic insert is possibly 6-7 times more. Someone might chime in here on exact figures but that was just one more thing that kept me coming back to the older classic style. Those two inserts look very different in my opinion too. The ceramic kind of bright and shiny, the aluminum more reserved, perfect for "flying under the radar".

Update: The upgrades in quality of the new watch are undeniable. I would like to fast forward 5 years and read the posts after this new case has been around a while. From what very little I know, it seems that Rolex is very slow and methodical to change, and rarely if ever reverse course, so I have to have faith that this is the new design standard and will become the preferred favorite over time when the next iteration presents. (Just a thought)
One thing that makes it tricky for me is trying to find a NIB version of the 14060m near me to try....but I agree with an earlier poster, that the obvious thing would be to try on both and see which is right for me. |

I found a 14060M last September by calling around to ADs and they weren't common here in NY and NJ. I had to go to DE to find one. Depends where you are I guess. I think they are being bought by people in the old school camp so they kind of have a little demand all their own.

Last BNIB 2 liner I saw was in 2011 at AD where I purchased my SD. It didn't last long as a friend of mine bought it a few weeks later!
