Many years ago, I was at work at the start of the day, when a co-worker arrived from his morning commute. He went on a red-faced angry rant about some asshole that cut him off in traffic, and almost hit him. After a minute, our wise elder statesman asked why he was letting an asshole dictate his mood.

Since then, I've tried to make his question a personal philosophy. Unfortunately, you are going to encounter rude, ignorant, stupid, petty people on a daily basis. Just say to yourself "what an idiot", and ignore them. Don't let them effect your emotions.
