I have mixed emotions about this!

Of course I would love them to come back. Then again, I have plans to pick one up anyhow, and I feel they'd be more exclusive in the US if they aren't sold here.

I wonder if I'll be losing money or saving money by buying one in Europe in advance?

I hope they bring over an ETA based Pepsi GMT. All SS for approx $3000 USD. That would be an awesome way to bring the brand back.

I've heard about it for several months so I'm more excited about what wonders Tudor will release at Basel. Although who the Tudor ADs will be is an interesting guessing game.

In Germany the Rolex and Tudor ADs are one and the same... two brands side by side in the same shop. I was assuming that they'd do that here... but.... who knows?

This could be brilliant timing...

Segmenting the US luxury watch market will impact some brand(s). Omega and Rolex seem to be the most likely to experience demand curve elasticity.

Of course, there's always the chance the pie gets larger vs. smaller slices of the same pie. Timing could be spectacular if we see a rise in consumer confidence and outlays for luxury goods.

Saw on CNBC this AM that the likes of Ferrari, Porsche, BMW, etc had 25%+ US sales gains in 2012. And more people are paying cash vs. loans for this spending.

Consider outstanding US consumer debt - at end of 2012 it totaled $11.34 trillion, according to the latest report from the Federal Reserve (Fed). That is still way below the peak of $12.68 trillion in 2008 and, most importantly, has barely budged in the past couple of years.

So glad to know it's official! I suppose only the ADs who currently sell Rolex will be authorized to sell Tudor?

Here in Spain Rolex AD sells Tudors.

In some shops in Barcelona you can find a very large stock of different Tudor models.
I love those cool watches.

Ok, I'll ask the idiot question.

What differentiates Tudor and Rolex, besides the obvious branding? Lesser fit and finish, less expensive materials, warranty, or what? In my watch buying lifetime, they have never been available in the US, so I never looked into them.

I owned the BB and other Rolexes and to me the fit and finished is on par, the only difference is the movement I guess.

Other more knowledgeable people will chime in
