Rolex crown on the sapphire glass

Can the members please advise the best way to spot the Rolex crown which is apparently etched into the glass.
I am struggling to see it.
Hope I haven't got a fake !

Get a torch and shine it across the glass this normally makes it easier to spot, and it should be at the 6 o'clock position.

Glad you found it. I had an especially hard time finding the LEC on my white dial models. They are indeed small. I've heard that one way to spot a fake is if the LEC is too large, in some cases very easy to see with the naked eye.

Yes its quite hard to see on genuine Rolex but on the wongtyme type of fake watches the LEC can be seen much more easy, as its just etched on the crystal surface. The LEC on a genuine Rolex is etched into the crystal its not on the crystal surface or underneath it. Its made up of hundreds of tiny dot like bubbles set at different heights throughout the crystal, (its so it does not create a weakness in the crystal). And it was from around 2001 on the Laser Etched Hologram started in the Crystal but not on all models at the same time. The Green Milgauss do not have it,and there have been reports of service replacement crystals from Rolex not having a LEC. Plus reports of having the LEC with the S through the LEC, today nothing is written in stone with Rolex .

Interesting facts about the LEC and the variation and inconsistencies.

One would really expect more consistency from Rolex if only for the reason of precision (they do make watches to keep accurate time after all so it is not a new concept). Not to mention the reason it is presumably there in the first place which I thought was anti-counterfeiting.

Sort of defeats that purpose if there is no consistency in the placement and appearance of the LEC really.

All the LEC connotes is that Rolex made that particular crystal. Not hard to take it off genuine Rolex, apply to a "look-alike". Then put aftermarket crystal on genuine Rolex and sell it on.

Easy way to take $8,150 and make it into $15,000...
