I see many members post that they wear their watch in the shower.I dont know if its an old wives tale,but I was always told that this would actually cause the oil in the watch to dry out.

Depends on the hydrophobic cleansing agent which could, over time, seep into the watch.

This could happen because once you are out of the shower the cleansing agent residue can still be present on the watch and when you break the seal on your watch by adjusting your time, for example, the leftover residue of the substance could enter the watch mechanism thus causing a reaction to the delicate watch oils.

Also note that the residue also will be "dissolved" by your sweat and also act as a vector into the watch mechanism if it is in a non sealed state.

Of course this process takes many years.

If you shower with your watch make sure it is rinsed off so there is no residue left over from whatever you are using to clean yourself.

I don't wear mine in the shower simply because I'm more likely to bang it into something getting clean myself! Also it will build up a white film inside the crevices of the bracelet. I noticed this on my older watches. I just treat this one a little differently. Just a personal preference.

I don't take mine off at all..... If it can cope
With 1000ft of salt water pressure then 6ft above
Shower tray level should be fine

How can you shower or sleep with watch?? Also wrist and skin need some air.
If you have watch on your wrist 24/7 think how many bacterias and viruses are under(inside) bracelet. And dont mention the smell afther some time.

Complete and utter boswelocks Rolex did a advertisement a few years back where they boiled a Rolex oyster watch.

I wear my sea dweller 24/24 7/7 ,even in the shower or during night...but i have to say that the Rolex technician at my ad told me that the high temperature and the soap are Two unhealty elements for the watch gaskets

Nope, everything comes off for the shower. If I were to take my watch in the shower I'd want to follow up by giving the watch a bath to get all the soap residue that probably collected in the bracelet or clasp clean. That would get old to have to do that every day. Nah, my watch sits on the dresser until I'm ready to put it on for the day.

I have worn Rolex for over 30 years, and if I have it on, it is on 24 hours a day. The habit makes me extra careful as I ruined a leather band on a JLC by getting in the shower with it on...Watch was 100% OK.
