What a WERID night.......

Did you ever feel like you're actually playing a part in an episode of "The Twilight Zone?" So.... right now, I'm sitting in the Admirals Club of the Chicago OHare airport, HOPING I get to fly home tonight. I left the East Coast at 12:00 this afternoon, and should be snoring in my own bed right about now... but thanks to that *$)#($* storm, I have been delayed... cancelled.... delayed... and... well, you get the picture. I don't drink, but am seriously considering starting right now....

So, I (Finally) get out to Chicago, and get put on a flight that should have left like an hour ago, but won't leave until 11:00 tonight. So, if there are any TRFers in Chicago with nothing to do, come on down to ORD, I'M BUYING!!!! But back to the weirdness....

The whole flight here, I start hearing rock songs from the 70s in my (brain damaged) head. Have NO idea where they came from... but can't stop rocking out to songs I was cranking up when I was 16 years old in my 1972 Ford LTD with a 351 Windsor..... (yeah yeah, I know... I'm old.... ). So, I land, walk in to the Admirals club... and see three gentlemen checking in right in front of me. Recognizing them immediately, I strike up a conversation. They were the nicest guys.... asked me how MY day was going, told me they were on their way to a concert, they had problems with their flights... laughed, flirted with the desk-girl.... Oh, who were they?

Kevin Cronin

Neal Doughty, and

Bryan Hitt.

Who are these guys?

REO Speedwagon

Anybody (else) remember REO? We chatted for a few minutes, and I told them I was a big fan, they thanked me, asked me what I did for a living, they were gentlemen, and genuinely very nice. I considered asking for an autograph.. but, I don't know... didn't want to be push. And right now, I can hear you all saying: "Pics, or it didn't happen" But, I didn't want to bug them... so, here is my pic....

So, for the mini-GTG, I'm in the club opposite (I think) gate K-4, come on down! I knew I had to try this drinking thing sooner or later..

I was a big fan of REO. Didn't know they were still together! Now, wasn't Neal Schon the original guitarist? (Please don't laugh if I'm wrong or spelled his name wrong - I didn't cheat and google!)

Great story, Paul.

You should have busted out in "It's time for me to Fly." Definitely would fit the moment.

Coming to The Burgh on May 19, 2013 - First Niagara Pavilion
Burgettstown, PA (REO) with Styx and Ted Nugent...

Saw them (I think) when they opened for Fleetwood Mac (Maybe) at the Capital Center in MD. about 1977 (Or around there), but I can't find it in a Google search.

I KNOW I saw them there!

The two girls I was with pushed their way to the front by the speakers and I lost half an ear of hearing that night!

157 Riverside Avenue

Werid, like you say!

Remember to look me up when you hit The Burgh again, brother.

I saw both Styx and Ted at the Civic Arena. Too bad they tore it down.

Love 'em. Saw REO and 38 Special in concert a few years ago in KC. Great time.

I saw YES and ZZ Top there twice and made keys to a Toyota for a dead-head after a Grateful Dead concert.

No, the VALET lost the key to the car, not the fellow on a journey (trip ; )

I was probably at the same Yes concert. The stage was in the center and rotated. 1979.

I still have a few REO albums. They're awesome. Crazy thing is that they also performed at the university I was going to (Ohio Northern) back in the early 90s.

You can find the same tour being played on youtube in Philly, probably the night before or after the Pitts one. Remember they stopped the show when someone ran up on stage? Lots of southern comfort that night. Oh, I still have the ticket stub. It was $12 I think and that was twice the going rate for a concert at that time. Nearly broke me buying one for me and my girl at the time.
