After one week with my first Rolex
A posted a week ago that I just got my first Rolex (SS Sub Date).
I thought I'd post some events from the first week (traveling) / some questions: Day 1. A co-worker spots it from 8 feet away. "Hey - is that new? GMT or Sub?" Day 2. Important dinner with potential business partners. The main guy from their side was checking out the watch. I could see him looking at it several times. Nice. Day 3. Another important meeting. This time, the main guy had on the same watch as me (sans Date). Questions: 1. I have my shirts custom made and my cuffs have a button over tab which means I cannot adjust the cuff size by moving a button. My watch is larger than my former Tag and does not fit under - unless I cram it under, but then it's stuck. So - do I just wear it extended out past the sleeve? I think that looks a little like I am trying to show it off. I can have my cuffs on my never shirts replaced, but not the old ones wear the color may have faded. I know - 'first world problems' ... thoughts? 2. With the watch out, it rests / bumps against my laptop (MacBook Pro - not plastic) - should I be concerned that this will wear / scratch the clasp? Oh - and this weekend I washed it - sort of..... |

A. Time for new shirts
B. get a wrist rest cover. You can get them on Amazon - same color as the macbook. Sticks on / peels off |

That's my 911 (997.1). Not really fair that I washed that one - I have a BMW X5 Diesel I use for work travel and it's much dirtier than the 911. But - it's still more important to keep the 911 nice. And - it may snow tomorrow or at least rain / be nasty - so the X5 is likely to just get worse this weekend.

Yeah, get something for the metal frame laptop. Metal watch against metal computer is a recipe for a scratched up clasp. Dress shirts with 2 cuff holes would be preferable as you need extra room. And enjoy the timepiece, I have been wearing my TT Submariner for the last 16 years virtually every day!

Glad to hear things are going well with the new Sub. Sounds like it's time for some new shirts.

Had the 997.2 first, believe me the 991 is pretty different. You'll want to try it out before pulling the trigger but I love it.

Couple of things
If you are getting your shirts made then going forward I assume you have them made with an extra three eights in the cuff Second I might consider ordering up one white or whatever your favorite shirt is with the new cuff. That can be a go to shirt when you are most worried Third I think you wear it beyond the cuff on your existing shirts. Except if you find yourself in a circumstance where it would not be desirable to show the watch then tuck it in

Leave the cuff unbuttoned and it will hang down over the watch. Won't be so noticeable.
