Hopeful buyer - I think I've found the one?
I'd appreciate any feedback on whether or not this piece seems like a decent buy? It would be my first Rolex, and encompasses basically everything I wanted. I don't mind having an aftermarket bezel or custom dial, since I know this is an older model anyway, and I won't be selling it to anyone in the future...
The only thing that would make me 110% happy would be for the watch above to have a hidden clasp (something I've been having a hard time finding one on this model, I'm assuming because that is a newer feature) Additionally, if anyone knows of a better place to find what I'm looking for, I'm all ears! I feel so fortunate to have found this forum, I feel like I've learned so much already. Thanks! |

Hello and welcome!well I would advice you try first because this is your first Rolex, this 31mm in my opinion is small for a man's wrist, try at least 36mm.

Hi Mitchell.
Welcome to the Forum. That may be way too small for you and that price is high (IMO) for a 31mm DJ with a custom dial. I'd pass on that one and have a look on the Forum for sale as there are some nice 36mm's available from time to time. Or look at a 14060M Submariner at that price point as they wear small on the wrist. I wear mine workdays on a NATO. Eddie

31mm is small. But if you get it please post a wrist shot.

Thanks so much Eddie, and everyone else for pointing out the small size. For some reason I wasn't even paying attention to that lol Where exactly do people sell watches on here? I now know the specifics I'm looking for at least...does anyone know of a seller who could maybe find the 36mm with an aftermarket bezel and a custom dial like this one? |

Like the others have said, there are better deals to be had on better watches...especially older, full size datejust models. They can be had between $2k and $5,xxx all day long, depending on the age, condition, etc.. I would look for a factory one and switch out the bezel if that is what you are wanting to do. That way you have the original, and you could save a few bucks over the one you found. There is a classified section towards the bottom of the main page. Good luck.

Michael,
As other's have stated that size unless you have very small wrists will wear very small on you. Check out the for sale section of the forum and possibly contact one of the trusted sellers there for exactly what you want. Good luck and welcome to TRF.

I wouldn't use ebay for this kind of purchase. Trusted sellers here are the way to go

Again guys, thanks for all the warm welcomes and advice! I've been checking out the for sale section and am blown away, so many gorgeous pieces... I'll def be finding something from this site in the coming weeks, and won't be getting anything smaller than a 36mm. Thanks again everyone =] |

Mitchell, welcome to the site. Just wanted to throw my two cents in. I have an extremely small wrist barely 6 inches. I have a 36 mm date just and a 40mm Explorer II. They both fit me fine. Even with my small wrist I could not image wearing a watch at 31 or 32mm. I agree with Mike I would not purchase a Rolex on Ebay. Contact David SW, he is fantastic. Good Luck.

I think I'm going to go into a Rolex store to try on a few different sizes, but will definitely be getting something 36 or larger. And I'll be contacting David SW, he's got some amazing things for sale. Thanks for the advice! |

Keep sales and sales pitches confined to the For Sale forum...
