Sounds terrible but I can't really understand why you would have made a u turn to go back for him? He didn't get your jewelry; you pulled a stunt driver move to get away....why go back?

The wisdom of the retro-spectroscope.I admit. That's the one mistake I made.

I saw coward heading for the hills and then saw three others approaching from the left.Anger made way for calm thinking and I got out of there.Anger= u-turn.

Dont freeze, dont panic, dont get angry stay calm and distance yourself from danger asap if possible.... Getting robbed 101

I don't think the South Africa Department of Tourism is too happy with you, Chris. You seem to describe a very different picture of SA than on the one on their website.

Hated reading about your car a couple weeks ago and now this. Glad to hear you're ok, though. Stay safe and keeps those windows rolled up!

Glad to hear you are unharmed.

Hopefully the robber has some nice bruises and is in a lot of pain!

Glad to hear you are safe and hope nothing similar happens again.

Many people who die in such situations do so because they tried to take these guys on or seek vengeance. Bear in mind these people come prepared and ready - it is best to just drive away if possible.

The Australian country city where I live has quite a number of ex-South African doctors. Go to one myself. They all have the same reason for leaving.

Late yesterday afternoon was driving with my wife in the car.We approached traffic lights to turn right.Just as I turned hand came through a slightly open window and grabbed my WG chain necklace.(No clasp, very strong) I grabbed his hand tight, engaged 1st gear and hit the gas.He slammed the tarmac hard.I made a u-turn and went back for him.All of a sudden three came from the left. They actually CAME for the car !I hit the gas hard and got the hell away.

The grabber was the decoy.Grabs the chain to get the car to stop and then the real target by the other three is the passenger side,my wife and her handbag.Luckily they had a moving target and couldn't get to the passenger door in time.

Me,wife and chain 1 Robbers 0.

This is now the second time, in 13days time.I am "slightly annoyed" !!!

Probably not the best decision, going back for more trouble, especially with your wife in the car...

Sounds like time to move!
