Absolute cult movie for rock-jocks. (and George didn't detract from my viewing pleasure either!)

Not western films.....I liked Grand Torino & The Trouble With The Curve....Clint Eastwood: The Godfather Of Curmudgeons, I worship at his feet.

Really? "one last job" love the goof though when Clint is the first to get on top on the moutain in the US. Only problem is that he is climbing on a rope that somebody has secured at the top already.
At least we can agree on Where Eagles Dare. |

I agree it was cheesy and there were mistakes but the movie was a bit of fun and it was nice to see some climbing on the big screen.
East wood might have needed that fixed rope to get to the top of that rock in death valley but he was a damn good climber in his own right and did his own climbing for the movie.

Two great western films have been left off this recommendation list: "Paint Your Wagon" and "Coogan's Bluff". And while you are at it, throw in "Where Eagles Dare"..a war movie, but worth it with Burton and Eastwood in starring roles.

Unforgiven is a must. Very interesting to see this take on the genre late in his career.
At the other end of the spectrum, I like "Hang 'Me High". First Western I saw in the theater. I'm not a huge fan of the Spaghetti Westerns, but any Clint fan has to see them, too. They have some great moments. Many love "The Outlaw Josey Wales". I liked it, but it's not a favorite. Not yet, anyway. I should watch it again. Those three would give you a nice range...'60s, '70s and '90s, and show the evolution of the actor/director and the genre itself. |

Unforgiven and Gran Torino are his best later movies, think your dad will enjoy both Oscar winners.
