I often times look at my SDs and I find them a little small, compared to my GMT2C for example and I find their looks pretty dull and boring .... but I am keeping them because I got them at great prices and they have gone up in value and when I do hold one in my hand, it brings the WOW out of me still... not too many watches out there can do that to me.... But I bet today that there are many div watches out there for under a $1000 or even under $500, that can take on the SD .... but in the Rolex world, the SD occupies a very unique spot and is the only watch that can take on the SUB andcome out ahead... |

Lol, you don't know what movement Omega uses but erroneously make the assumption that whatever it is the Rolex is better. That is definitely koolaid talk. So you know, the Omega uses an in house caliber 8500 which in many professional's opinion and on paper a more technically advance movement than the 3135. It has a longer power reserve and a longer service interval, 7-10 years. The 3135 has one clear advantage, it is tried and true. The Omega is technically a superior movement, but has yet to prove it's longevity. Lets look at more stats. Crystal: ar coating; Omega yes and it's domed/ SD no(pros and cons for both) Bracelet: SD ole reliable tuna can / Omega solid clasp arguably better(I prefer it) Lume and dial legibility: No contest, Omega Depth: SD 4000 wins / Omega 2000, both over engineered for any diver Both classics in their own right and yes the SD has better resale and more history but it is not the best diver on the market in 2013. I owned it and flipped it at a lost, so much for resale. I am not an Omega fan boy either as my two current watches happen to be Rolex, but the facts are subjectively clear to me, Omega has caught up in a few areas. |

I really admire a few Rolex watches (DSSD), but this blind worshipping is just crazy. All emotions aside. The PO is a far better watch than the SD and I mean far ... |

Interesting... I have seen the weight argument go both ways, some people go as far to say they will pay for plat/WG just because of the heft and weight while others on this thread say they would love TI for its light weight.

All my watches (with bracelets) weigh in at around 145 to 160 grams regardless of size. I can switch between the 40mm and 45mm without even noticing a difference. Personally I am not fooled into thinking weight = quality. Instead I derive pleasure from knowing I have some rather unique and higher quality metal on my arm (i.e. 904L, Titanium, and one day gold or platinum). |

Just to prove, that you can perfectly polish titanium.
Here you can see the polished edges on the side of the body. Titanium Grade 5 on the left, steel on the right: Once again. Titanium Grade 5 on the left, steel on the right: Sorry for all the pics. Just wanted to make a point. |

Awesome pictures. The Ti Omega is the first watch I've held in which I couldn't believe exactly what I was holding. Looks amazing, the finishing looks like any ss watch but the weight is like whoa...can this really be. Yes.
To clarify, on the last pic, the left is stainless and right is Ti. |

My wife needs Ti...

The only watches she can wear are Ti, Plat, 18k rose or yellow. Her daily driver is an Omega SeMP Bond 300m Chrono in Ti or her 16618 Blue Sub. She would be the first on the list for a Ti Rolex. Best, Mike |
