Either way, it's a defensible position. No harm no foul - don't do the transaction until you are sure. |

I'm starting to rest slowly but surely on keeping the SO, and getting the Milgauss GV..... two great watches, two different styles, images etc.... The straight buy deal I can get on the GV is only £700/$1000 more than the swap on the sub.meaning I can keep the SO and buy the GV outright!!! No brainer eh!!! |

I just finished reading this thread and I had a very similar experience as the OP. I sold my 2500 PO and my Breitling SOH to buy a SubC. I got it brand new from an AD after selling both of my watches. I did have a funny feeling when I got the SubC but I figured it was just excitement of a new watch. Unfortunately it was not.
I liked the SubC but was not even close to what I made it to be in my mind before buying. It's a very nice watch. Beautiful bracelet but it just did not work for me. I sold it and got a new 8500 PO and got back my Breitling SOH and could not be happier. Maybe I will get a SubC later on but for now its not for me. Some will say I was not ready for the SubC or whatever you want to call it. I just did not like it enough and knowing that I had to sacrifice two beautiful watches to get it was driving me nuts.

The debate still goes on in my mind though.... Milgauss & keep my SO44 or trade for the Subc.... Only time and numerous trips to an over used AD will tell |

I have a PO and a Breitling and and sub-c. If I could only have one, it would be the sub-c without a doubt.

I get the 1 watch point, but I don't have to have just 1.....
Is 1subc better to have than a Breitling SO and a Milgauss..... That's my issue... Am I a 1 watch man... If so question answered.... If not question also answered.... I'm leaning toward the subc again.... |

Well, it looks like you did the right thing for you. As long as you are happy, so be it. I have been in your shoes before, not easy :-)

Sounds like the subc is not for you at the moment, and no shame in that at the moment. The milguass is absolutely lovely, and a lot of people dont end up getting it because they want a bit more recognition from their watch (everyone says they dont but they do!) especially if there budget doesnt stretch to an entire rolex collection of different models. I think breitlings are great, quite like the superocean abyss ii, very nice watch and looks great. Two really nice watches sounds a great idea instead of a subc that everyone ends up getting anyway, be a bit different!

Do it, you won't regret it. There is nothing like owning a Rolex (assuming it's your first). The Submariner is also an iconic piece and built to last. I had hesitations when I first put that sort of money down on my first but once you have it, the pain of paying for it is soon forgotten by the smile on your face and the way it makes you feel when you're wearing it.
I remember doing exactly the same thing you did, I hung around, drooled a bit, moved on. Came back later, drooled some more... Then I sad down with my wife and had a coffee and we discussed it. 45 minutes later we were in the AD taking a better look and I took it home later that day. I never looked back and never regretted it. PS: the itch for a Sub NEVER goes away... |

OP, do it. Gotta scratch the itch, and that Breitling would be gone in the blink of an eye without a thought. The Sub is an awesome watch. Congrats. |

When I was deciding between the Sub and the GMT I decided that the GMT would suit my lifestyle and needs more. After all, I haven't made a dive in 10 years at least. Also, I wanted to be a little different than all the others who choose a Sub as their one and only Rolex. I now have the GMT and it is a beautiful (almost) perfect watch but every time I look it I have a slight nagging feeling. I recently had the opportunity to strap on a SubC and I realized that it is truly the watch I must own and that itch will only grow as time goes on. I'm seriously considering flipping the GMT in the next few months but I'm taking my time in doing so.
You have a great watch that make you happy but that Sub itch isn't going to go away. Don't torture yourself. Just get up the courage to do what you really want to do anyway. |

I had bought a bunch of Renato, In vista, and various other brands including Movado. Then, I purchased my blue dial Breitling SO Steefish xplus. It was my first expensive (for me) watch. I since have a 16613 sub and a 116710 ceramic GMT. I do find the 40 MM a little more comfortable than my heavier 44MM super ocean. The SO is a very nice watch and I understand your reluctance to part with it.
