When you send a Rolex in to a Service Centre...

... I understand that your watch comes back looking as good as new. Am I to assume therefore that they repair any scratches/nicks/dents your watch may have sustained?

If so, how do they do this? Doesn't buffing/polishing the metal wear it down? Just wondering how Rolex Service Centres deal with this after you've had your watch serviced by them several times...?

Yes they polish it and yes it wears down the metal. If you only do it during service it will be fine. If you polish everyday you might have a problem.

rsc will polish at every complete service unless the owner requests a movement overall only. the price is nearly the same.

precious metal models will wear a bit more after a polish compared to ss. rsc has a very advanced way of getting light dinks and hairlines out but deep cuts and dents (head only) will stay.

if you service every 5 - 7 years, it'll age nicely with you so i personally don't care if they polish my watches.

Well depending to how bad the dings are but in today's age of mainly pampered Rolex watches we are only talking about a few microns of metal.So at normal RSC routine service I would say it would be after around 5 -8 full services you might notice a slight difference over when it was new but that will be in up to 40 years.

besides polishing the case, will RSC polish the bracelet, clasp, and are they good and detail enough to polish even the side of a link and up to the extent of polishing out the scratches on a link screw?

most people will only focus on the case itself.

just curios about the polishing job by RSC as they were highly rated.

I've heard RSC's have a most excellent polishing machine.........I have no complaints, my watches have come back better than new!

Repair? No. They wear the metal down to the level of the scratch. After many polishes they would probably advise a replacement case.

They will do the polishing of the head, bracelet, and clasp correctly. They know what they are doing, however mistakes do happen.

My Sub was beat when I sent it to RSC. It came back looking new. You would have swore it was new from the case! It was gouged, dinged and scratched. I was very happy with the job RSC did.

To the OP, the UK RSC did a fantastic job on my GMT, came back like new, case and bracelet had all scratches removed, dial cleaned so that the Luminova is really clear, time properly regulated, two year warranty. If your watch needs a service, dont hesitate..... :)
