President (Day-Date) fans, can you help me with this one?
I'd like to take my first leap starting a vintage Presidential collection. I prefer WG or RG. Most Presidents I see advertised are YG, so I'm wondering should I expect to pay a premium for WG or RG?
And can you tell me what you think of this piece and is it overpriced for an 1803. http://tinyurl.com/m287ndl Has anyone seen a RG black dial 1803? I'd love to find one with box and papers. Thank you, in advance, Larry |

Wg and rg both carry a premium over
Yg, and for 7500 i don't think its a good Deal as you may never find a matching Band for It and it will be expensive When you do |

So I anguished long and hard about this nd ended up with YG fr both my President and Daytona. Somthing crisper and cleaner about this than Rose and I thought Id prefer RG...now o glad I went YG.
White gold...go stainless and buy another with the change. You will be the nl person in he old ho knows it a WG and I know thats bot the reason for buying but simply buy two for price of one WG and he aesthetic and movement are identical. Good luck |

1803 in rg is very desirable to us that collect the daydates, clearly rarer than yg and worth a premium, but hard to get a band and expensive, those watches with original bands are the watches that attract the best prices of course. If you are putting it on a strap its ok but this one is a bit too expensive. IMHO

What makes that piece a "one of a kind"? The other posters are spot on with their advice. It will be very hard to find a president bracelet for that and if you do it could cost you $10k. At that point you would be almost $20k for a 40 year old 1803. Not worth it.

If you intend to put it on leather, then it certainly can't hurt to click "Make Offer" and offer whatever you feel like. But I agree with the above that if you're not planning to put it on a strap, probably just pass.

I've seen 1803s go for not a lot more (maybe just £2kish more) than this with bracelets.
in fact, i have alerts set up for certain watches and one got sent to my inbox this morning. i haven't read up closely yet, but might be worth a look if you can live with the blue dial... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROLEX-VNTA...317#vi-content |

You will pay a fair premium for what you are seeking: never forget the most basic advice that I learned on this forum. Buy the seller, not the piece. Because WG and RG are desirable, people take shortcuts and make alterations. Really only consider the pieces from dealers you trust: those are the "real" prices. If it seems too good to be true, it likely is.
