Two questions...

hi,

first one:
1. iv'e a daytona Z serial with the rehaut but without papers & box,
do you guys think that i should upgrade it for a randomal serial one with b&p for about 3K?

2. if the answer for the first Q would be not- then what are you suggesting to buy for 3K?

tnx

Ami

The only upgrade will be the price and you will have a newer watch if you think that paying $3000 for a different serial and newer watch which is basically the same . Then its your money myself cannot see any point, and is say around 5 years time there will be far more random serial watches around than any single letter serial since the letters started way back in 1987.And seeing your watch is from 2006/7 if its not been serviced now is the time to do it,then your watch will be as good as new.Plus you will have a service paper/card with all your watch details on and that card/paper will be a full two year warranty so that's part of your $3000 I would spend.

It's the same watch so not an upgrade. I'd save the $3k for a future purchase.

Questions like these bring up a topic that I find intriguing...

First, the serial number should be irrelevant - it's just an identifying number..

However, today there seems to be a growing culture that places "value" on having the very latest edition of anything. From Ipads to Tennis Shoes, many feel that their peers will look down on anything that is not the latest thing on the shelves. This phenomena is driving long lines ad cell-phone, computer, and camera counters, and manufacturers are counting on it by only adding small features each year (without much added substance), counting on this new culture latest-and-greatest mania.

So, I would say that actually paying just to get a "later" serial number is not financially prudent; others may think that they must pay that so they are socially acceptable among their social group.

It's easy to say "save your money"; yet some may be emotionally unable to resist..

Second: Taking into account this cultural shift to new things, if a couple of thousand and a trade-in gets you a brand new watch, and it is difficult to ever get hold of the full purchase price; this may be a perfectly reasonable option.
