Stripped lugs an issue?

Hey guys, in my search for my next Panerai, I saw a 127 for sale with a stripped lug screw (great price if you can repair it, replace the case cheaply, or live with the damage) . I'm no stranger to Panerai screws, having owned many such cases, but the new quick change system on my 233 has spoiled me. I don't recall having any problems when I owned screwed cases but I always backed it out CCW before tightening and a quality screwdriver IS A MUST. Have you had or heard of many issues with screw holes? It won't dissuade me from getting one but I thought it was a good topic to review.

No problems with my 422 but I am very careful. I personally would not buy a watch with stripped lugs.

I don't see the value in a Panerai watch that has the stripped lug screw.......

To replace the case would be extremely expensive.......and I would also wonder what else was neglected by the previous owner(s).

All depends on the price, maybe use spring bars and save some cash.

Can you send it to the factory to fix. Solder the hole and re tap it.

I've got a 233 K series that had the same problem. Sent it to Panerai, they replaced the case.

Kiy : I'd stay away from the watch unless it's a low dollar model, and you can get cheaply ( like 30%-40% off )

mike, you're not going to be happy with a defective lug, even if there is a work-around. unless the discount covers the cost of a new case (which i imagine it doesn't), i would stay away and get a pristine example. with the 127, no reason to not aim for the best.
