Is the warranty from an AD worth the extra cost vs. grey market? How many needed it?

I understand one advantage of buying new from an AD is a 2 year warranty. I realize there are other advantages of buying from AD (and some disadvantages). However, I am curious about this 2 year warranty. How many have actually needed it? Does this make buying from an AD worth it to anyone? Has anyone ever not bought from an AD but needed a warranty and wished they had had one in these first 2 years?
