Picking a GMT Master II
I purchased my first Rolex a couple weeks ago, a 2005 - SS - Submariner No Date. Love it, great watch. I'm interested in the GMT Master II models also. I've located two so far, a two-tone and a stainless steel. The seller of the stainless steel is asking $4300 and claims it's in mint condition and comes with a box, extra bezel insert, and no papers (haven't seen it in person yet, but the pictures seem to corroborate his story). The two-tone seller is asking $5500 and also claims it's in a gently cared for used condition. Both have been serviced in the past 3 years. The SS is from 2006 and the TT is from 2002. Anyone want to chime in with opinions, comments, or advice? Perhaps I should just close my wallet and relax, but that TT seems at a decent price.

It's up to you what you want to buy..
The SS is priced good if it is as advertised but I think that the TT is a bit on the high side

SS is a good price. TT probably ok price too but not quite as good a deal. SS gives u more options with bezel inserts. Mine is a 2002....

I love my TT. I am resting the jubilee bracelet at the moment. I always wanted a sub until this watch showed up.

Not usually big on Rolex-on-straps but that looks really good. Might have to give that a try for the occasional change of pace.

Both models are superb...the TT looks best on a GMT.
Cross check prices on ebay...subject to condition sound about right. Good luck...you will love the classic GMT |

At those prices I'd check out the SS first and see if you want to pull the trigger.

@samsmart
Not an expert but I think it was 2005 or 2006. My sub has the case holes in 2004 you mention but the SS GMT is a 2006 with no holes and solid links. |

The two-tone GMT II without box and papers seems a little high at $5500. If he had everything it would be a nice price. The stainless model at $4300 seems pretty reasonable.

The SS is a great price, the usual asking price is around $5k give or take a few. The question you should really be asking yourself is which one do you like better? You may have the best price between the two but its useless if you get tired of it quickly. As for price, you can look around the sales forum to get a good average on the asking price for the TT.

Thanks again for the input, man this board is so clean. Not a troll in sight so far. Just to clarify the SS is the one without papers!

Get the TT. You already have an SS Sub. The TT will give you more options for different situations.
