Pic of the others please!
I am a little surprised at the brisk dismissal of Franck Muller pieces, I thought we were watch lovers?! I really must visit Marcus one day... I wonder if they tire of the watch 'tourists'?! |

First of all, congratulations on the Daytona, it sure looks like a great watch!
I must say I quite like some of Franck Muller's simple watches, their small tonneau cases are very nice and their dials are pretty original. This one sure is an impressive and incredible masterpiece of horology but in my mind it goes in the Sky Moon Tourbillon and Tour De L'Île's category: watches that would look much better in a museum than on my wrist.

I'm new to the horology game. Still hunting my first actually. However, in the course of my hunt I had come across pics of some of those pieces in magazines.
To see them in the flesh is a rare privilege. Thanks for sharing. Like others I agree the FM just doesn't cut it. It may be horrendously expensive and complicated but it still hurts the eyes. Just because Picasso is a groundbreaking and collectible painter doesnt mean most of his works aren't as ugly as sin. That urwerk pocket watch seems like a bit of a folly to me (in the architectural sense). Perhaps they were honing some of their design skills in preparation for some later piece. On the other hand that Thunderbolt is magnificent! Up until last week I had been working under the illusion the Rolex SkyD was about the most desirable watch I'd ever seen. That Thunderbolt is now in pole position (excuse the pun). The only problem with a watch like that is you could only wear it while driving a vintage Aston Martin (or Morgan perhaps) which means not only do you have to fork out for the watch but you've got to find at least the same again to buy the car to match it. |

OP 1st offwell done on that Daytona, did your nephew manage to get you a deal on it?
2nd: I would LOVE to see that MB&F in person as I agree totally it is bonkers but I love the steampunk-esque look of it & the fact they had the balls to produce something so different looking, same goes for the Urwerk it's like a watch from the Terminator age. |
