Panerai doing what other brands do... Rolex keep releasing oyster case watches but no1 seems to complain? Then again I don't like having more than one piece from a particular brand.

Interesting thread. Not sure about the PR on the bronze.

frankly, panerai is making all the right moves from a business perspective.
I was shocked when panerai released the 372 and the 390 because lot of people, myself included, purchased one (depending on wrist size) or both of those models and then were "done" with panerai. 372, 390, maybe a california radiomir or the dots and line radiomir if you like the radiomir shape, for the panerai DNA collectors that is it for us. im grateful panerai pandered to the paneristi with the 372 and therefore I will forgive them for just trying to sell some watches at SIHH 2013 |

sorry to revive an old thread, but i was actually doing a search on the 399 and came across this.
though not as big or a long-time fan as many on here, i have enjoyed the few panerais i have and 'think' i get where this recent sentiment against panerai is coming from. i guess, i am curious - are the older limited edition models - particularly the 127 and 217 still held in high regard by those that are well initiated in the brand? |

I know this is an older thread, but in retrospect there were some pretty damn hot releases! 526, 514, 508.... all pieces I could see myself chasing down the road.

imho I'd say yes. At the current prices (which are lower than they were a few years back, but still impressive) they are certainly a luxury but if I had the means, they would both be in my collection

Im still bored with Panerai lately - nothing from their lineup excites me. I have posted several threads back and had a good chat with members here - hope it changes soon!

I still like the brand, but I will not buy another SE. Seems meaningless when they come out with almost exact copy re editions. Also, the rising price point of all the other models makes me rather buy a Rolex (modern and vintage).

i did not like where panerai was headed. i still do not like where they are heading now.
they are stepping up to change the base models. because its a necessity. but soon they will probably shoot themselves in the foot...again |
