Congrats and a great story I'm sure some of us can relate to. Continue wearing it in good health for many more years.

What a love story! Brought a tear to my eye Now, true love is only made true love when one goes before the other, as my friend would say. I'd have to bet that the Sub will out live all of us. But what a "time" you will have had

It's something you buy just for you, no one else. No one benefits from it but you. It's more than just a time piece. If you need to know the exact time, you can easily look at your cell phone. A watch is more than that. It's intimate. It's no wonder we have such an emotional connection to them.

The thing about the subs\ SD's- is that no matter how old they are - they still look amazing watches

Great replies to a great thread!

One thing that I have to say about stories like this are that they are all the more meaningful if that's the only watch that the owner has worn for years and years... memories made day in and day out with that one special watch always there. You depending on it as well as it depending on you. Great story OP!

Thanks for reading, and for all the warm replies! I knew you guys would understand. When I told my wife it was my watch's birthday she just shook her head and changed the subject.

This 14060 has been on my wrist through many important times in my life. It has been to different continents with me, on top of mountains, to the bottom of canyons...and I was wearing it when I met my wife. The first day I met her she looked at it and said "Oh, nice Rolex." (She had a DJ at the time.) I'm sure this is the same for all of you, too. Our watches are companions, in a way.

Tim, I know you love your 14060 as much as I do! I know exactly what you mean, I sometimes wish that mine was my only watch, too. But each of my other watches means something different to me. To answer your question - I brought it to Rolex NY for service. They did polish it to perfection, it looked like brand new. Sadly, I allowed them to put a new bezel insert on it, which I now regret. (If you compare the two photos you can see that the font is different. The old one had that cool "flat four".) But I was very happy with their service.

Thank you for the information. I too have several other watches and I'm sure that some others will follow but my Sub will be on my wrist daily through all my life's adventures as well as misadventures. I have a long way to go until I have to worry about a service but I'm sure that what ever I decide I will not let them touch the bezel insert. Keep wearing the hell out of that Sub for many more years...

Great post.

I've alway dreamt of owning a Rolex Sub from being a little kid. After working damn hard for the last 14 years I decided this was my reward. Only had it 2 weeks so I'll post a similar thread in 13 years and take some snaps on the way.

Thanks
