For the record. To me if there is a trusted seller who can source the watch new with stickers and all paperwork in my name with a full warrantee. That is just as good as an AD to me. I'd have no reservations as some of the trusted sellers here are very good. I think there are sellers who can deliver all this too. |

To many people it looks like Rolex is just screwing over the consumer with these restrictive policies. I'm not defending it, but keep in mind that from Rolex's perspective it is more complicated than that. Maintaining a happy AD network may play a part in it. For example, it keeps the high volume AD downtown in a big city from undercutting the lower volume dealers out in the suburbs and putting them out of business.

If you can't bargain the AD down 5% you either need a new AD or need to improve your bargaining skills. First time I went to a Rolex AD I was able to take 18% off a Date-just and second visit 15% off a GMT IIC

Some ADs will discount in the US. If they are caught they can lose their AD status which is game over for a Rolex dealer.
Japan greys will discount like heck... ADs not at all. Speed? Can I get a groan? Calling Speed.... |

We all want big discounts but then we also want our watch to hold its value. Classic having your cake and eating it too.
The reason Rolexes hold their value so well is because dealer discounts are minimal and Rolex has a long history of raising prices. Same deal with Patek. I can easily buy a nice JLC for 30% off new but then I will expect to sell it at 50% of MSRP used. |

In USA at least. You give 20% off or more and you loose your Rolex license
