A little German watch porn....
Was looking for a manual wind to add to the collection for sentimental reasons. Went to my Rolex AD in Indiana as per my usual. Upon returning from Basel they had a couple new lines that carry, Tudor and Nomos. Add that to Rolex and Omega and Mount Blanc, pretty good selection. Not wanting to spend a fortune and having a rather limited selection of manual winds I started to dive into the Nomos selection. My requirements were, manual, with a date and prefer a domed crystal (just gives it some pop I think). Many did not have a date complication, couple GMT, couple 24 hour functions, fewer yet manual winds. So I ended up with an Orion Date Gb. 38mm, Shell Cordovan leather strap is really high quality. Build quality is remarkable for a watch in the $3000 range. Very happy with the purchase. Thanks for looking.

Great piece!
I just received my Nomos catalog; highly recommended if you don't have one. The Orion date is such a classic looking watch. I'm looking at the Zurich myself. I could be mistaken, but I believe Nomos were the first watch manufacturer in Glashutte to have the Glashutte Seal, which confirms that at least 50% of the parts are made in Glashutte. No problem for Nomos. |

Very nice pickup. Nomos offers a very good value for the dollar (or should I say Euro).
Congrats |

Thanks everyone. The story (that is told in the Nomos encyclopedia) is what is so compelling. That and the fact that a non WIS will think it is a cheap watch. In my line of work you want the watch people to know that you have a nice piece, but the non watch people to think it is a Timex. This piece does both. If you buy one have the dealer throw in the encyclopedia, they normally sell them, but they will be really rare really quick. Of the first and only editions ever, most were lost in a flood in Glashutte.
