If only between these two, I choose full gold. i will also consider 18038 or 18238 if I have 9k budget.

I would choose solid gold
Consider a day date 18038

While I love full gold watches, I'm also a sucker for newer/new watches.
That would be a tough choice but I would probably go for the 116233.

If you're really wanting solid gold, David's suggestion is very good - may as well have the Day Date.

But I would opt for the TT DJ if it's your first Rolex. And since you're willing to consider an older model like the 16018 to fit a budget - maybe a 16233 to save some money?

And have the extra funds to get a Sub!

I could not agree more. Of the first Rolex's one acquires, one should be a Sub, the other should be a DJ or DD.

I would pick the 16018 given those options. However, my ideal choice would either be to buy a President for $8-9k or an older TT Datejust as well as a Sub (16800 or 16610) or an older GMT II.

The fit & finish on the newer 116233 shames the older Datejusts... IMO
