MSRP: ~$7200, is that right?

This is the exact model I have. I paid MSRP at a Rolex dealer which was $7,150 but if you go over to the classified section you can pick one up a little cheaper. My dealer would not budge on MSRP but others might. I was a newbie and I wanted it right there and then so that's what I paid. Emotion takes over during these moments LOL.

I think the fluted bezel is iconic for Rolex, but the smooth polished bezel is so clean and nice; to me, simplicity is best. Having said this, I think my first Rolex will be this one...

although my dream Rolex is this one...

Fluted. It gives it a little touch that really gives the watch something special.

I just went to Rolex AD yesterday and I think I fell in love with DJ II blue stick dial fluted. The fluted bezel is just beautiful. Hopefully I will get one this year.

A DJ should always be fluted! Round bezel makes it look sporty and you might as well get a sports model. My opinion...

On the DJ2 with its size, I say smooth. But I am not a huge fan of fluted bezels in anything larger than a DJ. Don't know why, just personal preference.

I am not an unbiased participant though.

To me a DJ is a sport watch no mater what. It is not a dress watch. A dress watch is an ALS or a PP on a strap or something to that effect.

Well said

IMO the smooth bezel suits the modern case size, and flutted looks best on the DJ

I ended up with smooth and really liked it before flipping. If I was to purchase again I think I would go blue or black dial, sticks and fluted.

Datejust: Fluted vs smooth bezel. Opinions?

Smooth bezel makes the watch looks a bit more sport, which I like:

My current DJ on smooth bezel:

The fluted bezel on the datejust is one of the most iconic Rolex features and I love the way it catches light. Timeless styling and impeccable craftsmanship.

I agree.
The fluted bezel may look too "blingy" on the DJ2.

Definitely fluted, it screams Rolex. Also first one, would definitely buy new, it's a great experience. More pricey but well worth it. Now that you have every opinion possible, go forth young man.

Tough call. For the office I would go smooth, for everything else fluted.

I prefer fluted. Mine came with smooth, but I already had a Rolex factory 2ct bezel so I popped the smooth one off. I think I will pick up a fluted one soon to give diamonds a rest....or maybe just get a DD40 and leave well enough alone.
