Assistance

Hi Folks,

Just a quick question to the field. I'm looking to purchase the 50th anniversary Sub and I've been hitting as many of the AD's as possible in the NYC area and nobody appears to be selling this watch. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can purchase this watch from an AD? I've been reading through many of the forums post and it looks like folks are on wait lists at their AD for many watches. How does someone get on a "wait list" for a watch? Do I have to be a big spender at a particular store to get on one? Does anyone have any suggestions? Sorry for all the questions any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks =)

Waiting list policies vary by AD, but I wouldn't think that you'd need to be a high roller to get on a waiting list for an LV. Just ask if they can call you when they get the next one and see what they say. Another tactic would be to offer to pay up front to guarantee that you get the next one that comes to them.

Best of luck!

Also, I'm going to an AD here in Buffalo today, and I'll take a look to see if they have one in stock for you.

That's what i did to get my GMT II C. I think that if you give them some cash they will be more serious with you.

Are these "LV" Rare?, do AD's get them in frequently? How much do you suggest I put down in advance for the watch? Sorry for all the questions and thanks again for all the quick responses and suggestions!

The LV is certainly more rare than the SS Subs. Usually they will ask you to put half down. I have yet to see an LV in Houston.

I've seen many LV's here but they want you to make a deposit which equalls to the 30% of the total value of the watch

Another Question for the field.. When folks use the word "cash", do they actually mean benjamins or is a AMEX just as good. I have no problem with getting cash out of the bank if they give better discounts =)

Only speaking for my two local AD's but,

Cash = Cash
AMEX, MC, Visa = Credit

They don't offer a discount for credit. As the saying goes "Cash is King."

Any retailer is going to be paying a % to a processing company to handle their CC's. Its definately preferable to receive cash as payment.

LV's are not rare at all and you should not be paying MSRP or higher on them.

My AD has one in stock and in the display case as of a few days ago for MSRP. I'd be happy to try and arrange a sale for you if you are interested and if they still have it.

Thanks for the offer Bama, but after reading through about 200 posts regarding all the great watches.. Yeah my back hurts and my eyes are stinging.. but it's been worth it =)

I'm hoping to find a AD near the NYC area( Thanks again for all the help), so I can go and deal with them directly without taking a long trip.

Now I'm stuck on choosing from 3.

1) LV Sub
2) TT Blue Dial Sub -SS/Gold
3) TT Blue Dial Yachtmaster -SS/Gold

So many choices..

Nothing like walking in to a store and being able to try on your watch in person. Any of those options you mentioned would be great. Good luck.

There are reputable dealers...

who are not Rolex AD's who have that watch for sale, unworn, and give their own guarantee. I saw two on one website today. If you want the dealer's name, email me: [email protected]

www.swissluxury.com is a gray dealer with LV instock. I have not dealt with them, but heard that they are reputable.

However, IMO, there is nothing like walking into an AD, pick out and examine your watch, and walking out with it (after paying, of course).

As far as the YM, I much prefer the SS/platinum version comapred to the TT.

My local AD has a preowned LV in stock (selling on consignment). I saw it yesterday when I picked up my TT YM with blue dial. I asked about the LV and was told that the gentleman that purchased it wore it for a month and decided that he didn't want it anymore. I didn't ask the price.

The AD is about a 2 1/2 hour drive from NYC. If you're interested, PM me and I'll shoot you the AD name.

My understanding is the LV Sub is not the 50th Anniversary Sub.

The green dial Sub is the 50th Anniversary Sub.

Tom (Kansaivet) blows a gasket every time he sees this, so we should probably hide this thread.

If your serious about wanting a LV then go to wempe on 5th ave, or any AD you feel comfortable with and pay for the watch outright. This will genrally bump you up first out on the list when it arrives at the dealer. As you know in New York this will break great ice with the dealer as well and should you want to purchase another one later on you will get a great deal as well. That is what I did when I bought my LV and the AD told me I had a three month wait, Three weeks later it was on my wrist. Money especialy cash is a great motivator.
