RSC Geneva (Rolex).

Have any of you had your Rolex watch(-es) serviced by the Rolex manufacture (= RSC Geneva)?

I guess it's more expensive to have Rolex S.A. service your watch, but it would be nice to hear some experiences.

My AD will send my two Rolex watches to Geneva to have some minor issues fixed, free of charge, but it will take about two months. Still, I am considering having my AD send both watches to Geneva to have them fixed PROPERLY this time!

I did get the issue with the chronograph hand solved by an AD Rolex-trained watch maker, but he left fingerprints on the chrono hand! And my SS GMT IIc still needs a new second's hand (very slight lume fault).

You're sending them both away for 2 months?

I will bet anyone $20 that you will buy another while they are away.

Sending one at a time for service? Ok, if I have to. Sending both at the same time?

ROLEX OFFICIAL FACTORY SERVICE:
New York will be fine (RUSA, 665 Fifth Avenue, New York, NY. 10022), there is nothing more that the factory can do about servicing a current Rolex, ALSO you might need certain custom forms to fill out so you can repatriate these watches (I think form 4455). So I think it will be better to send them to NY. Now if you are going to Switzerland personally anytime soon, send them to them and when you go to pick them up you can have a tour of the factory as well. Thats the only advantage to service the watches there.
Regards
Anastasios

Thanks, Anastasios. But my AD would both send and receive the watches, so that I am not bothered with customs.

Anastsios, Bo lives in Denmark, so RSC Geneva is the place to go for European service issues.

Bo, what watch will you be wearing for the next two months?

Hey, Bo! Here's an opportunity! Send one, and then the other when the first one gets back. Then, when its ready, take a three day holiday with the girlfriend to Geneva (the Rxlxx Pxrxdxsx) and STILL have your tour on that Friday! Simply don't wear the "current" one while on the way there & customs does not come into play. I'd love to take my wife to see the Alps, but I'd have to cross the pond to do it & you're much closer.

Just a thought. And cheaper than another watch too!

You are absolutely right he does live in beautyful Denmark where you will find that the distances are short – and Rolex watches expensive, with tall and vibrant women that can knock you dead, if you dare to ask them to a drinking contest.
Oh, the Danes are great people, in fact we the Greeks married Ann Marie of Denmark and thousand other fantastic girls, the Danes do not give a toss about formality, politics, military and George Bush...and Man...I feel gooood.
All the best to you
Anastasios

Want to hear about a crying shame?

My wife has a new job in communications for a bank. She's only been there almost a year. Each year in October they recognize certain individuals at a dinner and among those 50, 10 are rewarded with a trip. She was one of the 50 nationally recognized but she was not one of the 10 awarded the trip.
Location of the this year's trip?
Geneva Switzerland.

I was hoping to go and get some pictures outside the Rolex factory.
A tour? I dared not even dream.

Next year it will be some other destination.

Yeah, problem is that Switzerland is not part of the European Union. So items sent from Switzerland are liable to custom's fees. That's why the watches will go via my AD. Maybe he has a special contract with custom's or another way of sending them.

What watch I will wear? Probably a Seiko mid eighties moonphase watch I have in the drawer. I cannot afford any new Rolex at the moment.
