Would a mint GMT Pepsi purchased from James M Dowling have extra value??

On buying the watch from Mr Dowling, he provided a heavy velum paper certification with a photo of the watch, model number , serial number and date of sale, endorsed as accurate by his signature.

James Dowling is a noted authority, collector, sometime poster here and other forums. But would it have extra value?

Doubtful.

Perhaps the value would be in some peace of mind for yourself as the buyer, as he is a reputable vendor by all accounts although through no personal experience on my part.

I agree that it likely won't have more value than other GMT's of a similar age and condition.

If the value is to be affected, it is usually based more on the age, condition, and how original the watch was kept, i.e, no modifications were made to the parts and so forth. It would be based less on whoever owned it.

With a later re-sale, stating that the watch was bought from James Dowling would vouch for the authenticity of the watch, but otherwise I don't believe the "provenance" will add to the value of the watch.

No matter where it is bought it will not enhance the value. Do not view it as an investment, just wear it and enjoy it. Who care's what it is worth in a few years time. JMHO

If you have the original Rolex papers then you are fine.

The Dowling stuff is irrelevant really.

If the watch does not have papers then a RSC service guarantee paper is the next best thing.
