It is my understanding that the LV Sub was released in 2003 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Submariner.

I believe the first serial number of this watch was F, so do you guys think that the first serial number (F series) of this watch will be worth more money than say a D, Z or an M series as it is the true anniversary model?

Any changes at all between F series LV and a new, M series LV?

Not really. I think it is the look of the watch that will be worth more money than say a D, Z or an M series.

Only minor changes.

The first LV's had an "Oval O" in "ROLEX" and now the NEW LV's have the CRB (Chapter Ring Branding) that the first ones did not have. The LV first got the CRB in 2007.

As an interesting sidenote, the VERY first LV's presented at the Basel Fair 2003 had holes in the lugs, but Rolex NEVER sold them. All LV's that went to the AD had NON holes cases!

This is excellent info! In regards to the 'oval o' on the first LV's...is this only on the LV's? Do any other watches have the 'oval o'? I have never noticed this before, but after comparing pics (between an F serial and an M serial), I see it plain as day.

Great watch. I hope they come out with the maxi dial when they re-vamp the Sub line.

When did Rolex start using the newer font'd 'O'? Did they change this on all of their models?

There was a member here who just recently stated having seen an oval O in the "Rolex" word on another Rolex model. I think it was a TT Blue Sub, but I am not sure.

If memory serves there were some late Y series LVs. The LV has had at least two seperate dial fonts as well as a couple different shades of green on the insert.

Oval O on the left (F series) round on the right (D series)

And the Y serial numbers were produced in Fall of 2002, correct?

Does anyone know when Rolex did away with the 'Oval O' (if at all)?

a oval with a S.

Will that be more worth than a regula?

I think the first issue LVs will be worth more in the future. because they were also the last subs to be sold with anchors. and collectors of old subs now love the ones that come with all the accessories, i think that will still be the case when LVs become a collectors piece. JMHO

I don't know how or why but my Z-series came with all the goodies including the Anchor.

My 16610LV: Round O, no CRB, hologram, received the anchor, and a skinny 4 on 40...

I have a CRB on my 116520, can't say I really care one way or another, I like that the serial number is visible without removing the band though...

Get whichever one is the best deal..

It will be years before any serious collecting will happen on this reference.. Everything else is just speculation at this point..
