Rootbeer GMT II

Thanks to Allan and a few other's wonderful pic's I have decided to look in to getting a Rootbeer dial GMT II. I called all over the place looking for an AD that might have one left over new in box. I guess they've been out of production for a while so I knew my chances of finding one was slim to none. Well, I hit the proverbial jackpot today and found not one, but TWO AD's that have one in stock, brand new! I got one of them to whittle down the price to $5,765 which equates to about an 18% discount off of msrp. Also, if I buy from them they will give me an extra 3 year warranty at no extra charge and to sweeten up the deal even more, I won't be paying sales tax. I'm waiting to hear from the other store as to what they're bottom line will be as far as price, but I'm not thinking it will get any sweeter than it already has. I thought I'd share this with everyone cuz I sure am stoked about it!

Thanks for listening!

Thanks for the info Nik! I have a Pepsi already and I don't really care for the Coke, but thanks for the heads up.

Does anyone have any pic's of their Rootbeer to tide me over until I get mine?

Well since yours will have a oyster bracelet, i'll post on of those up. However, what you see before you is the old school version:

Edit: you know, I realize that I have been posting a bunch of pics of my GMT lately - it's just that i really dig it and am always happy to see pics of it!

The new school version isn't ceramic is it? Interesting that despite the upgrade to the GMT ll c, they still manufacture NEW Rootbeers. I thought they were discontinuing the earlier GMT ll with Pepsi and Coke bezels ( I happen to have the one with black bezel), but you say brand new so perhaps they are making an exception for the Root Beer? This is interesting indeed.

Good for you Felly. I enjoy the chase as much as the catch. Those root beer GMTs are really different and offer a unique take on a Rolex classic.
Good luck,
dP

Rolex doesn't manufacture them anymore, Art.

Felly was just extremely lucky to get one NOS/BNIB from an AD.

And thanks for posting the pic's! I guess the "D" serial was the last one produced. And yes, I DID get extremely lucky to find one at an AD NOS.

Great watch. I called my local AD yesterday and he was less then helpful. He said no discounts and cash is the same as credit card. He ofered me a coupon then told me I could not use it on the green anniv sub. I guess he really does not need or value my business. It's Schulers in Norristown PA. I think I will stick to using the AD that Wolfgang has.

No, one is in Oregon and the other is in Cali. I went ahead and went nuts and bought BOTH of them! I'll probably sell one to offset the price of the other. I just couldn't resist the temptation to have two NIB Rootbeer GMT's. Am I crazy or what?

Nope, not at all. No crazier than the rest of us anyway! I'm guessing you'll flip one of them?

I think that would be the sensible thing to do, but I have no idea what the market is on one of these B/C I can't find any for sale that are NIB.
