Icon20 GMTII or YMII

Hello everybody. i'm in the process of purchasing my first rolex and after visiting AD and trying them, i've narrowed with the GMT master II TT or Yacht MasterII SS with blue bezel. I was given 12% off retail price with GMTII and 15% with YMII but i'm torn as to which is the better watch for the money. Any advice or comments are welcome and much appreciated. Thank you

Buy the GMT2c unless you race Yachts

Gmt II TT is a great choice, perhaps the Yachtmaster II could be your next Rolex down the road :)

Do you think the GMTII TT or SS keep its resale value and will be able to trade for YMII? Thank you for your comment....

I love both models but would get GMT first.

Would you say 12% off MSRP for GMTII TT a good buy? Thank you for the comment and it helps me with my decision...

GMT all the way for me. Also, 12% is decent but not stellar. Perhaps try a trusted seller on TRF.

GMT first. 12% isn't bad, but as Chris said, there are better deals to be found.
Good luck.

The blue YM is very attractive but as the guys said the GMTc might be better as the first. TTs are generally selling for 20% off with trusted sellers.

The YM II is surely a standout first purchase, so I would go with that!

Both however, are very nice watches so you can't really go wrong with either.

Apples and oranges.

You don't have to race Yachts to own to YMII. It's a highly unique and attractive piece but at a very high price point considering it's SS. If you can swing it, no question I'd go for this piece.

One of my favorite references is the TT GMTII. But I might be biased cuz I really don't like the YM line.

As you are thinking about price and value get the SS one as it will be easier to move on if or when you decide on a change. TT does not sell as well as the SS ones.

Buy a YMII unless you fly planes.

Buy whichever one sings to you the most. Doesn't much matter what we think as you are one who will wear it! Happy hunting....Cheers,

I'd probably go GMT as my first, but that YMII is pretty awesome....

Putting money aside, I would go GMT, for no other reason than I think the GMT is more of a "go to" watch. The YM, while a fantastic looking piece, is (to me, of course) just not as much of an everyday wearer.

Does have a cool timer countdown function though...

My best advise to you is to try each one on (together at same AD) and see how you really feel. Forget about pricing, etc. - but which one you LIKE better. Here's your answer....

Between those two, I say the GMT IIc in SS.

If price isn't an issue, YM II in SS; but if you're going YG, I would go GMTII.

I was in a similar situation between all sport models at first as I love them all and narrowed it down to SS GMT II black bezel and GMT II black and blue. I love the yacht but even the platinum bezel can't compete with ceramic IMO. You need to go to AD and spend a good hour or Two trying on and get the one you love.

12% is good amount from AD new. I only got 6% off and I was happy with that. Yes you can do better on this site but it's Grey market. Not that it's bad but for your first purchase and extra few % it is worth getting new directly from AD With no worries or concerns IMO.

Keep us updated....
