I don't know about the other metals but my Pt Daytona is 284 grammes of loveliness.

Sorry Paul, I'm really busy at the moment. I will get around to it eventually —not that my poor photographic skills will do it justice. Maybe I should post it to Jocke!

Congratulations on your new Daytona.

I do, however, question the weight. I've read reports that it is around the 250g mark.

Given that it has exactly the same dimensions as a steel Daytona, I don't see how it can weigh as much as a Day-Date II in platinum, which is a much bigger watch - it has a larger diameter and a wider bracelet. Where would all the extra weight come from, bearing in mind that the ceramic bezel of the Daytona weighs much less than the flat platinum bezel on the Day-Date II?

The sport braclets are very solid.

One more point, since Rolex charges more for this model than the SkyDweller - one might expect the winding crown technology/assembly protocol on this 'Daytona' (as found on the SkyDweller) ensured that the crown aligned correctly as well....but evidently that is not the case for $75K. And something a little more special than the same movement as in the SS model. I feel like this is a simple cash grab for Rolex. Imagine the profit margin on this piece...

The lugs are different. WG and Pt Daytona lugs are thicker and curve different than the YG and steel Daytona.

Question away — I've weighed it.

Dear I say this. And if I do it is honestly not meant to offend anyone...
Mind you my first post on this forum was some what provocative, but this is not mean to be.

I don't get the fuzz about Daytonas, really I don't. I can appreciate the heritage and the craftmanship but that's about it. I might be that I'm not that fond of chronographs in general and without a dat in particular. I used to have a Speedy Pro, but I had to let it go as I'm actually depending on my watch for time and date.

And then I have never come across a situation were the chronograph function has been needed, I mean to measure fractions of a second. Having said that I am owning some diving watches, a Sub, PO, Breitling SO and a Seiko SKX007. The deepest I've probably ever been is about 5 meters, and the "worst" diver I have (Seiko) will manage 200m, the "best" will do 1500m (Breitling). In addition 2 of my divers have a Helium Escape Valve, so far they have at best been a icebreaker around a diner table with unknown faces. Not sure what I'm trying to say here, I guess we all have our own irrational reasons for liking and buying our watches.

So to all you Daytona lovers out there, and I'm sure you are plenty, please enjoy your peace or if you are still saving up for one, please keep the dream alive. I mean it.
