Wait for the indignity our prices went up when our dollar went down in the early 2000's, prices never went down when the dollar went up to 1.10US, and if it goes down again our prices will go up further. And they wonder why our retail is dead and even the average punter learned how to buy on line.

+1. You know what i find more "sickening" (if i can say that) is that australian firms do not pull their socks up and become more competitive, instead, they just lobby the government to widen the goal posts to their advantage.

I'm actually finding UK prices quite reasonable (for some things), despite their 20% VAT

Shame. I love going down under.

I always see a lot of cool things that I never new existed... Then I see the price. :-(
Two hours later, I'm on Amazon in the hotel room placing an order for the same piece, for a 30-40% price cut.

I have friends that live there. Shopping online from the UK has become a way of life. Evidently many Euro stores even offer free shipping down under. The word has gotten out...

Man.. If I could just import one of those Ford Falcon micro trucks. Of course, the steering wheel would need to be moved to the correct side.

I love how our full sized if not oversized Falcon ute is a "micro truck," I guess when you come from a country that makes the F650 anything can look micro!!!

I buy my Churchs shoes from London, not only do I pay UK Pounds @ great value prices, but they take the VAT off and the shipping is less than the VAT, in short cheaper to buy UK gear here than in the UK, same shoes in Sydney are twice the price.

Sorry Mate... I'm originally from Texas. It's not uncommon to see F350s as daily drivers there.

true and everything is a rip off! however our minimum wage is $15 an hour.. Even a basic bar job would get around $17 or $18 per hour!

ive mainly done my online shopping with american firms (amazon, ebay us sellers, tirerack, etc). will look into shopping with EU firms to see whether it is still cost viable because last time i checked it wasnt.

and lets not forget sky high prices for property in most major cities of australia. this has a major flow on effect for everything else.
