Family Guy
"Family Guy" executive producer Steve Callaghan told E! Online that the writers thought Brian's fatal accident was a fun way to shake things up.
'Family Guy' has killed off one of its most loved characters. Audiences were shocked when Brian, the sophisticated family dog, was hit by a speeding car and lay lifeless on the road in last Sunday's episode. The character, who had been in the show since the pilot, uttered "You've given me a wonderful life, I love you all," as he closed his eyes for the very last time. Not a fan of the show . What kind of writers think killing off the dog (fictional character or not) is a fun way to shake things up. Fictional or not ,sickos is the only word I can think of to describe the people who write this type of so called entertainment.. |

Ya honestly I was disappointed they got rid of brian especially the way they did it.
I hope they bring him back somehow in future episodes |

It's a cartoon.
They could do anything that the imagination and animation technology allows. |

I mean based upon the show I don't think it was anything out of the ordinary. Many characters have been "killed" on the show and have come back. I believe a couple of weeks ago Meg was killed and ended up coming back.
Also according to the episode list brian has his name in a few titles and also has one of his own episodes coming up in the fall of 2014 so he will be brought back. Let's not forget stewie has a time machine =) |

Wait, what? After eleven seasons of Family Guy, one of the characters dying is what upsets you?
Everyone has their own set of buttons, I guess. |

I love the show more than anything on tv, up there with south park & of course the simpsons, cartoons have always gotten away with stuff reality couldn't, when i was a kid i watched the adult cartoon at the time "Wait till your father gets home," then cutting edge. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mbsEYoK...%3DmbsEYoKm9X8

While we would like to believe that the main protagonists will always walk away and live to fight another day. Their passing serves to remind us that death is an inevitable part of life. |

Pure speculation but I recall in an interview once seth mentioned it was difficult and hurt his throat a bit to do brians voice at times.
I am sure he could easily enough find a suitable replacement (re:chef) but maybe he did not have the heat to give up the character and just wanted a break. Besides everyone knows titanium capacitors arent really that difficult to source :) |

Killing off popular characters seems to be the fashion these days, examples game of Thrones, Boardwalk empire, etc

Kenny gets killed every episode. They could bring him back if they needed to.

He will be back. In Wikipedia, they show two titles for later episodes this season that have "Brian" in the title.

I had the impression that the car that ran over Brian was shaped after a Mercedes Benz.
This directly ties his death back to this forum! |

Frankly I don't think killing or bringing back Brian does anything for the show. Other than to get people like us talking about it, but the only thing more annoying then watching an episode of family guy is watching an episode of the simpsons or south park. They have covered all the bases 3 times over with their story lines and for gods sake just cause they still have viable ratings doesn't mean they should go on forever... 1987 guys, 1987. That's when the simpsons started 1980' freakin 7
I mean enough already, the tweens who watched the first season of the simpsons are getting ready to retire for creeps sake... Heck my nephew who wasn't even born when south park started is about to finish grad school... Brian-schmian, maybe now he can get his book published and make up with Jillian and stay the freak out of my life!!!

Seth MacFarlane has said several times he's tired of doing FG and I think this is the beginning of the end. He felt it should have ended after season 7 but everyone still likes it and watches it. I'm sure it's hard work to put it all together since he does a lot of the jobs for the show himself...I'm sure with lots of help. Sometimes a show just needs to bow out while it's popular (Seinfeld) and not drag out into something like Lost.

I highly doubt it since Brian's voice is basically Seth McFarlane's actual voice. It is pretty much the only character that would not cause any strain whatsoever on Seth's vocal cords.

I just watched the show (recorded) last night.
It'll be interesting to see what Vinnie brings to it. http://www.tmz.com/2013/11/25/family...co-brian-dead/ I'm guessing that if the characters themselves could have chosen who to get run over by a car it would have been Meg.

I saw people have started a petition to get him brought back. It's a cartoon people. The writers can do damn near anything they want. I envision his return and a battle royale with Vinny forcing Stewie to choose sides.

Seriously, there are so many other things that have been offensive in this show that picking up on this one issue is sort of silly. If I read right, the OP doesn't even watch the show and is just peeved that a cartoon dog was killed on a cartoon show. So, he doesn't watch the show and read an article on it, which explains why the post is so bizarre and devoid of context concerning the show itself.
