Grand Cayman

Hello everyone,
This is my first post. We are travelling soon to Grand Cayman from Ireland and wondered if watch prices would be significantly cheaper and if anyone had recommendations on where to purchase.

Thanks

I'm in Grand Cayman at the moment, and I can tell you that the prices should be quite a bit better than your location. Kirk Freeport has two locations in Georgetown and they have an amazing selection of Rolex watches, as well as Panerai, Patek, and all the major brands. All I can say is BRING YOUR WALLET

Send me a PM if you have specific questions about specific models. See this thread to get a little glimpse of the inside of the store.

Kirkfreeport is indeed the place to go on Cayman. But IMHO, bring your negotiation skills besides your wallet. As they'll offer you sticker price at first.

Think about customs duty when you arrive back.

I'll give you a tip. You are sitting on the best food in Grand Cayman!

I stayed at the Westin, just opposite of the road. The Westin was so-so on food. Of the ten days we where there, we spent 4 nights if not 5 at Sunshine Grill. Your hotel restaurant! Great simple food. I mean the place is nothing special, but the food, and friendly service... Priceless!

Also try the Sushi place (can't remember the name) that is just to the right of your hotel. (walk to the road, turn right by the liquor store) Looks nothing from the outside... Open the door and you'll get world class sushi! And very nice inside too!

Your hotel is not on the beach, but have lunch at the Westin's beach bar. Reasonably priced, and good food. Splendid view of seven mile beach. Enjoy.

"By the place is nothing special" I meant it's lovely, but not the Ritz Carlton (also opposite the road next to Westin.)

Just re-read my post and it could be interpreted as "pompous". And I can only speak for the restaurant. Have a great trip.

I can't tell you much about watch prices, but I spent more money in a week on Grand Cayman with my spouse than I have ever spent anywhere else in the Caribbean. We stayed at the Westin Casuarina and enjoyed great food and beaches, but when I added up the receipts when I got home, I was shocked.

No question it is the most expensive place I have been in the Caribbean also. ESPECIALLY this trip adding the BLNR and Pelagos to the tab

No kidding?!

Same place I stayed. Lovely Caribbean hotel, but some of the staff was quite rude to be honest.

Now that will add a bit to the holiday account!

If you decide to charter a boat for any reason, I would highly recommend Black Princess Cruises operated by Captain Chuckie Ebanks. We spent time with him out on the water, and he built a custom Muskie fishing rod for me that is a work of art. Great guy and an island icon.

Isn't there a way to avoid that?

Luckily they are much less in the US than in the Eu.
