I actually agree. The Quagmire character has really taken on a mean streak recently and is no longer the irreverent lothario he was years ago. Problem is, with Cleveland gone (spin-off was a terrible idea), Peter would only have Joe to hang out with so probably not going to happen.

If I read right, the OP doesn't even watch the show and is just peeved that a cartoon dog was killed on a cartoon show. So, he doesn't watch the show and read an article on it, which explains why the post is so bizarre and devoid of context concerning the show itself.
"Family Guy" executive producer Steve Callaghan told E! Online that the writers thought Brian's fatal accident was a fun way to shake things up.

I guess it depends how one defines fun. I personally see no humor in running over a dog, fictional or otherwise, but hey that's me. That was/is the point of my original post ,not the context but rather the notion that it was a "fun way to shake things up".

Family Guy brought Brian Griffin back from the dead to teach fans ‘a warm, fuzzy holiday lesson’
MacFarlane went on to explain that the whole plotline was Family Guy‘s way of reminding viewers to “Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash.”
Call me skeptical on the motives but I love a happy ending none the less.

I grew up with dogs, and have two dogs that I, my wife, and my kids love to death (no pun intended). They are members of our family.

But, I also laughed very hard during the dog scene in National Lampoon's Vacation. I have no issue with differentiating fiction/comedy from reality. I guess I don't understand what is so controversial here.

Just guessing, but don't you think that was intentional...

I guess. I haven't watched the show in awhile, but after the big ordeal about Brian dying I watched the end of that episode on YouTube...

Not that I don't think the show is entertaining. I just don't have the time I used to have, and there are other shows higher on my list, like Walking Dead and Homeland.
