Even Tudors are unaffected by the restriction.

I have noticed several sellers here on TRF from outside the US who sell some vintage pieces. I was told by one of the sellers it wasn't a problem to have the watches shipped to the USA, but that doesn't sound correct to me. I am assuming it applies to all Rolex watches new and vintage? Personally I wouldn't want to take the chance.

Why are US Customs expending effort on Rolexes? Ie, why are they working for Rolex? Seems very odd to be using US Government resources for the benefit of a fancy Swiss company.

It's a US Governemnt issue because the laws are with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, a Federal agency, enforced by US Customs and Border Protection, another Federal agency. Rolex isn't the only company with such rules in place.

If you do not like the law then by all means contact your representatives and Rolex USA and ask them to consider changing the law.

Learn something new every day.... I had no idea.
I recently (Sept13) bought a Rolex from a friendly seller in Vancouver, BC. The box was not indicative of it being a Rolex, but that of a cheaper Chinese watch with a declared value of $200. Funny, though, it was opened by US Customs (as per the tape to reseal it) and was sent on as usual. The day after I signed for it, I received a call from FedEx asking me to send it back as it "did not clear customs". Obviously I didn't return the call or anything, and all was good, but I got to wondering... What if it was confiscated? Who would be the one taking the risk, me or the seller? |

Thank you for clarifying. With thin resources, we can't be wasting them!
