Rolex Sub. 16610 '1993'
I just bought one that came with all paperwork, warrenty and box. What surprised me is it does not glow in the dark, I also have a explorer 2, about same year and it is really bright.
Any ideas? Thanks, Mark |

The sub likely has an original tritium dial and hands and the exp II likely has a luminoval service dial and hands. Does the Exp II say "Swiss made" at the bottom and the sub say "Swiss - T < 25"?

Yes you are right. Are you saying that the dial and hands have been changed on my Exp 2?
Are all replacement dials referred to Service Dials? Thanks for reply |

2. Not really. They are called "service dials" if they are a new, authentic replacement dial from Rolex. It is possible that some have been replaced by used dials out of other watches..

I'm interested in this thread as I have a 1991 sub with has a tritium > 25 dial but glows very well in the dark, I've had the watch three months. there is no patina developed and the hands match the same shade of white?
I took the watch to a Rolex service center last month to change the bezel insert and there was no comment with regard to the watch not being straight. |

People change dials (have them changed) frequently for various reasons. An RSC will only use genuine Rolex parts. I had a 16610 that had a dial that had faded in spots and I had a new one installed at service time. It looked much better. If you want luminosity, have the dial replaced.

Rolex will likely not comment on your watch if the parts are authentic regardless if they have been changed at some point in time.
