Thank you all

Hey Rob Actually the one in the picture is not exactly vintage but it is old school. Leather rope with metal handles is a common feature that can be found on skipping ropes nowadays.
It is all about the purpose. Rubber ones are for speed skipping. They tend to be less durable as they are more likely to become twisted, requiring you to untwist it before the workouts which causes tear in rubber. The leather ones are more heavier and they are better for heavy workouts. You can see in image below it has a small mechanism that helps the spinning. They are more durable, a little maintenance from time to time with saddle soap & mink oil - good to go

Thanks for clearing that up PEB, my workouts are usually just classes of light or body weights, with a bit of cardio. Never tried skipping, although I hear it's very effective. The leather and steel handles makes for an interesting pic with your Sub.

Some beautiful shots today.

Every time I jump/skip rope it reminds me that I am not in as good of shape as I think I am. Spend more time lifting than cardio the last couple of years. Of late committing to more cardio so this is a nice reminder to add the rope to the routine.
