Question on Buying Vintage Rolex / Tudor

I've owned a few nice watches but I'm new to the Rolex world. I just purchased my first Rolex - a new Daytona 116520 black dial and I'm already on the quest for another watch. Such a strange addiction:)

My question is...where are you guys / gals going to purchase vintage Rolex / Tudor watches? This forum? VRF? Bob's? Auctions?

I'm in the market for a vintage (or relatively vintage) Submariner or Tudor Snowflake. Any recommendations on where to start my hunt would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Jon

I've bought my two Rolex's here on TRF from reputable sellers and the deals were great. As for my other vintage watches they were purchased on Ebay and so far I've never had any problem.

Whether it's here, on other forums or any other place online, the most important thing is that you must buy and trust the seller before thinking about purchasing from her or him.

There are a lot of fakes out there so a seller you can trust is essential.

Hi Jon,
Welcome to TRF!

Checkout my watchmaker, Charlie Cleves, just across the River:
http://clevesandlonnemann.com

Give Charlie, or his son Mike a call to see what they might have available.
Good luck,
dP

Dan,

Thanks for the heads up! How long have you worked with Cleves and Lonnemann? I'm excited that they're so close. I'll reach out - but do you know if they regularly have some inventory of used Rolex's?

Charlie has been my watchmaker since 2006, when I got my GMT II from him. Yes, he usually has a stock of used Rolex's, as well as other brands. But his store doesn't look like a vintage watch shop as much as a local jewelry store. But his knowledge and expertise are top notch. Worth checking into since he's so close. Tell him I sent you.
Good luck,
dP

Thanks again, Dan. Just reached out to Charlie to see what he may have in stock!
