Mini review of my new Exp.2 Polar 216570
Hi all,
Hopefully all of you survived the Polar Vortex some of us had here in the US. Interesting thing, the day I picked up my POLAR Exp.2, it was the coldest day Ohio had seen in 20 years. So, I thought that was pretty neat! Of course I froze the whole day! My favorite thing about the explorer 2 42mm is the case size of the watch. I love my SubC, however I really would like the case to be a bit bigger. This watch fit just the ticket. Surprisingly enough, it doesn't look that much bigger on my wrist than a SubC does. It's only 2mm different, but I think it does the watch the justice it deserves. It looks more substantial. I find it to be the perfect size. Also, this watch isn't flashy, which is something I like. I will say, that the Milgauss - GV that I own, is probably my most comfortable watch. However, the Explorer 2 comes into a close second for me. In addition to comfort, the bracelet has to be the best oyster lock clasp/bracelet I have seen on a Rolex. It is absolutely amazing. The brushed look on the watch is perfect as well. The weight on this watch hits the spot for me all they way! Now to the dial- I love the White dial on this watch! I own almost all black dial watches, so this actually felt like I bought something different from the usual. In addition to that, the 24hour hand is sweet! My love of orange started with the Milgauss and carried over to the explorer 2. I think orange is the best color for this watch's 24hour hand. One last thing- I think this watch is quite versatile as it is white, and you all know the saying - "everything matches with white". Though that is true, I don't know if this watch will be my every day watch. However, it will be for a while, because it's brand new to me! I read somehwhere, here possibly, that a Rolex should be understated elegance. That is exactly what this watch is. It's beautiful yet simple all in one. Here's a quick photo, which prompted me to make the review. Such a great watch! (love the new iPhone camera where you can change the shade of the pic and all!)

Glad you are enjoying it. At some point when I become sufficiently motivated to put my 16570 up for sale I will make the switch. The first time I tried on the 216570 I thought it was too big. The second time I thought it just might work.

Thanks! And you definitely should switch over! Plus, I've heard from many and now know that this newer model just reeks of great quality especially in the bracelet. Something that the older modeled needed badly!

Mr. President, i don't own one of these beauties, but did handle it a couple of times. 2 things strike me (which you didn't talk about) on that watch. So I just want to add them here to your review.
First: I think the white dial makes it look bigger as it actually is. So it looks nice and even trendy I would say. Second: The blue-ish lume is fantastic ! (almost as good, no even better as my DSSD ) |

Agree with all your comments plus I really appreciate the Easylink clasp that allows me to fine tune the bracelet fit. When the 216570 came out I thought it looked great but was convinced it was too big for me even though I had not seen it nor tried it on. I loved the look of the EXPII and bought a 16570 in 2012. Just a few months ago I finally tried on a 216570 and bought it that same day, trading in my 16570. Best decision I have made in a very long time.

This is super watch - probably the only one within the current sports line up I would and did) go for! Picked up a black dial version just over a year ago and it still holds well to the toolwatch look. My only current modern Rolex! It is versatile and looks like you could wear it anywhere in any situation. Enjoy!

Really is a great watch. Have the black one myself, although there are days I wish I had gotten the polar white one to have something different.

I'm actually wearing mine today but have to admit of all my watches it gets the least wrist time. For whatever reason...compared to my other Rolexes it just does't look or feel that special.
It's a fine watch...but if I had to do it again I'd pass on it. |
