I'd guess there's tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of 16610 around.

You must be joking if you would think that any modern day Rolex would be a investment. Especially watches like the 16610 produced in a million plus since launch in 1988.And apart from the lume change around 1998 SEL 2000 and over the years different case stamps and minor fonts they are all basically the same.Rolex watches are meant to be worn and enjoyed hopefully in good health that's more important than thinking about investments. Then after wearing and enjoying wearing one of the finest mechanical watches made today. And if you do need to sell and it gives you a good return on original price paid, just think of it as a bonus on wearing that watch over the many years.

The 16610 is the most produced ref. in Rolex history. If you see someone wearing a Rolex today, chances are that it will be a 16610. This ref. "is the pillar of Rolex's commercial success," according to one reference. It will never be rare, but will increase in value....... In 30-40 years. Wear it in good health, do lots of fun things wearing it, save the stories and pass it on to someone you care about. Congratulations!

I'd keep it and purchase another used one to wear. NOS subs go in prices every year.
