Best top quality watch winder?
Since I have now established a regular 4 watch wearing pattern, I'd love some advice on which winder is the best.
Any suggestions? |

Look no further than either Orbita or Wolf. My Serti Sub has been riding a Orbita Belino for the last 11 years.

Well, the best out there is probably a Scatola del Tempo; but way too expensive. My money goes to Orbita

Not quite sure about the best but I will get this one if I were to. SwissKubik makes a very similar one too and comes with a USB port.

IMHO the only winder you will ever need for any Rolex watch you already have two they are called wrists. It takes less than a minute to rewind reset any Rolex oyster watch. No matter how many watches you have the ones not used just let them rest, its not a problem to rest watches for months..

If you truly need a winder: Scatola del Tempo-costs a fortune-but nicest. Then Wolf followed by Orbita IMHO. As Peter said though--the wrist works the best!! I only use winder for Perpetual Calendars as too much of a pain to continually try and reset.

I like some of the features on my Wolf, like the way it winds for 6 hours and then stops for 18. Lets the spring wind down a bit. I like that better than one that slowly winds for 24 hours.
Also I had a single Wolf winder that made a grinding noise. I got it used with a watch purchase. I contacted Wolf and they replaced it no questions asked, no receipt etc. Easy enough.

There are many good watch winders out there. Couple important things to keep in mind that makes a good watch winder
1. Noise: Some watch winders make a lot of noises, you want something really quiet 2. Motor: Buy from high reputable brands that offer warranty. Sometimes the motor on cheap winders breaks down after couple months. Do your research. Amazon also offers excellent customer service with a good return policy.Orbita and Wolf Designs are really good one however don't buy on their website, they charge more as it is always regular price. Check out www.timelesswatchbox.com they have a good selection with really good prices. 3. Winding Options - Automatic watches wind from the rotation of the rotor on the back of the movement. Some of them wind in only one direction, and some of them wind in both directions. Winders can generally be set to wind either clockwise all the time (for watches that only wind clockwise), counter clockwise all the time (for watches that only wind counter clockwise) or alternating between clockwise and counter clockwise (for watches that wind in both directions). Watches that can be wound in both directions will also wind without any problems on a clockwise or counter clockwise program, but if your watch only winds in one direction then you need to set the winder correctly or the watch will not stay wound. One more important point - Don't buy directly from the manufacture, they usually are more expensive as they don't have sales. I like Wolf Designs as they are a reputable company. I bought mine from www.timelesswatchbox.com and got a really good deal. Really happy with my purchase |
